View Full Version : Better fuel economy with Manual in 3.9 Classic?

I am looking at buying 3.9 RR Classic with a 5-spd and was wondering if having the manual transmission gives better mileage than the auto.

I had a '93 RRC auto 5 or so years ago and that got about 18 to 19L/100 from memory (a tank would last about 350-400Km). It improved marginally after I fitted extractors, but apart from the nice sound was probably not worth the cost of the extractors.

Is it wishful thinking to imagine the manual might do better?

According to the handbook, the manual does 1MPG better than the auto around town, and AFAIK the same at a constant highway speed, which is logical as the TC locks up at 85Kmh.

OK - better do some searches on fitting LPG then!

Thanks
