Can the cards be damaged bouncing around in a 4WD?

I've got all my maps on micro SD cards - various toppos, desert maps, Cape York etc. The really little ones.

These add up to about 8g. Because the cards are only max 2g, it necessitates swapping them over every now & then. No big deal.

The others have been bouncing around in a container for about 12 mths now. Never had any issues, but it did just occur to me if one got scratched, I'm in trouble.

How much would it take before they're unreadable?

I'll think I'll store them in the adapters these little fellas come with just in case though.

TIA

I use lots of SD cards from 2gB upwards (but not micro SD ).
They are always kept either in the appliance or in a protective case.
In 2 years I haven't had a failure.
They have survived airport security, 4wd vehicle use, and plenty of other rough and tumble.
I make sure that they are not subjected to extreme heat although the ones in the GPS on the dash get pretty hot in summer.
I also make sure that their terminals are kept clean and they are not subject to any bending or really strong magnetic fields.
They are rugged little blighters.

Keep them in their protective cases away from sun, dust and moisture and you'll be fine. The other option is to buy a very small Pelican case to put them in.
