A mate has offered to buy me a 20 ton hydraulic press if I help him change out the suspension bushes on his 130. (The price of the press is less than half what he was quoted for labour)
We're looking at a 20 ton bottle jack type press - is this going to be sufficient to press out/in radius arm bushes, panhard bushes etc? I know lots of workshops have 50 plus ton presses but if people are doing it successfully with a 20 ton or less press, let me know...

Yes, at least I have done all of mine with a similar size press.
You need the tools to press the bushes out and in, but these can be easily made if you have access to a lathe, or you can usually find a suitable size socket to use. Just need something that will push on the outer sleeve but is an easy fit in the hole in the arm.

the ones Ive done have all been on either 20t or 60t presses.
the 60 tonner at work has a gauge and on the last lot I did only got to 4.5t when the bush started moving but I've also had them stall the 20tonner.

If you cant get the old ones to move you can cut them out with a hacksaw blade or similar.
Before puttting the new ones in, put the bushes in the freezer for a couple of ours and if the wife is out put the end of the radius arm in the oven at about 150 . This will help the smaller press do it with ease. I use a 30T press and still put the bushes in the freezer as it makes it so much easier.

Bloody hell, I've done 2 vehicles so far with a couple of sockets and a ball pein hammer. 20 Ton/50 Ton, just use a bigger hammer. I haven't had to use heat yet, just lube on the new ones, then hit them in. Maybe I've just been lucky ..........

It's been a long time since I've heard anyone else use the term chonks. Must be a Victorian term because we used it all the time when I was in primary school down there. QLDers look at me funny when I say it. I'm determined to pass this term on to my kids but they look at me funny too!

Lollies, chips, snacks, chocolate bars etc
It's always simply been lollies/chocolate to me. Not good under a 20T press (Just to stay on topic!)
