:D

There must have been a king tide coupled with global warming because I'm told today that she's been washed ashore at Minto .

Now if I can get them to float her down the Cook's River to Marrickville I will have her this time next week give or take a few tides.

It can't happen too soon because my defender dreams are becoming incessant.

She will be the first of my vehicles to be given a real name...not normally a family tradition.

Although my mother had a name for Dad's Citroens: "the French Mistress" and this title was invoked accompanied with the rolling of eyes when Dad was late for the Sunday roast due to being underneath the aforementioned. Subsequently mine have been called Italian and English Mistresses.

But I digress.

So her name

I was going to call her "Rivets" but that hardly befits a lady.

My partner's son started calling her "the Destroyer"...again hardly feminine or politically correct in these days of anti-4wd sentiment.

However given that Tata now owns the marque I figured that it would be a appropriate to call her "Shiva" after the Hindu god(dess) of destruction. So that will probably stick.:)

Just arrived back from four days in the Port Macquarie area about 5 hours drive north of Sydney.

1. Brilliant motor....on the freeway barely had to use 5th gear most of the driving was in 6th. Even those long climbs out of the Hawkesbury River and the Mooney Mooney Bridge she took without effort. Much more enjoyable than the Disco.

2. Average Fuel Consumption for the trip was 10.6 l / 100 km

3. 5 hrs straight drive without discomfort.

4. You can speak whilst driving at 110 kph and still be heard

5. My partner drove it for a couple of hours and remarked on the comfort and ease of driving.

6. The three Amigos have made an appearance

Apart from the last item I am well pleased.

Itching for some off road driving now. :D

Briann,

The defender was made in SA for a number of years and for the last couple of years, prior to the 07's, the Australian TD5's were made in SA. The SA factory was closed under Ford and the Defender Puma models destined for Australia are now made in the UK.

Isn't that HDC, ABS and TC:confused:

I looked for the HDC in mine but can't seem to find it;)

I did about 200km of c...c...c...c...c...c...corrugations yesterday getting home without any dramas.

Don't you just love the low first and that short shift to second:D

We have our own version it seems: Brake warning, ABS and Traction . Same issue (sensor).

As my good lady describes it: First and Second gear are 1a and 1b.

Are they self resetting?

I understand that Nanocom may be developing a unit for the Puma but that the WABCO and Alarm units are the same as in the Td5. Let's hope something is available soon as there seems to only be the RovaCom Faultmate.

Just to close the loop on my "Three Amigos".

The lights were coming on as a result of a bad earth connection rather than the sensor...and consequently an easy fix according to the Dealer.

I wonder.

I think that that worker was then moved on to the assembly section that tightens the bolts that hold on the turbo heat shield.

The Dealer said ominously when I picked up the "Kelvinator" that at least my issues were easily fixed.
