top loop will be nice have somewhere to hang the lights

side struts would help balance it out also i think

Well we got some more done to the bar this weekend but we are far from happy with it . Still not finished as the pipe bender we have is crap and will be getting a new one later on . We are going to make another one of the same design but wait for the new pipe bender as it has let us down in a big way . heres a couple of pics ........

Looking good Mick. How will you stop the middle section from flexing at the winch mount when winching or if the wings take an impact?

ARB do this on their highmount bars by running a reinforcing rail across the front which integrates with the roller fairlead, and on the low mounts they give the structure depth by using the deck on the bar and just cutouts for winch access.

Thanks Slunnie , yeah the bar will have a couple of out riggers to stop any movement on the sides on an impact . I still need to do some more work to it to get the bar finished but slowly getting there ;).

Nice job.

Constuctive advice....
Get it as close to the body and as high up as practical to help with the approach angle.

But the end note is...

I like it... Tough and "Your own work"

Its hard to make a good looking bar that is 100% everything you need...
Keep up the work. Its good to see home made mods.

Damn it.. now i need to get my shed finished so i can finish the pig off....

Thanks Clarkie . I have made it as close to the grill as i can with a winch in there . I'll be testing it out soon for approach angels ..... I know the welds are strong enough as i hooked up a chain to it and dragged a couple of small trees out of the garden ...... broke the chain twice :D.

It's very Ogjonian in appearance, you say it's not yet finished, what have you got to do before it's completion?

I still have to weld in a couple of bars from the chassis mounts to the outsides to stop the bar bending into the front guards in an impact . and going to weld in a piece of flat plate undernieth so the winch doesn't get jammed in the mud on entry ;).oh and need to weld on mounts for the drive lights and uhf ariel . I painted it cos the welds were exposed to the elements and i don't want rust .

Another update on the winch bar . I have welded on some brackets to the bar to put the shackles on for recovery. I also got side tracked and made up a recovery hitch for the rear tow bar point ......
