Gday All,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on what might be a reasonable price for brand new door tops for a series 3. There are a set on Ebay for $210. (Search land rover series 3).

There is also a second hand set of doors, for 10 bucks each. But they seem to need as much work as my current ones do.

I know the door top subject has been raised before. But no-one, from what i can see, has mentioned a price for brand newies, and even 2nd hand trades have been done through PM's so i never see what price was paid. Not being an expert on land rover spares prices i was wondering if any of you could shed some light. I hate being ripped off, its un-Australian, and love a bargain, don't we all.....

Cheers, Josh

G'day Josh,
I noticed those door tops too.
I would have thought the door tops were about what I would expect to pay - you might get them a bit cheaper if you shop around but not by much.
I need two, and ended up buying a whole vehicle for A$400 (with good door tops!) :D:D:D
If you check out the UK sites I've seen them for about 30 quid without glass but by the time you got them here.....

I think new ones are around $170 each from FWD.

My dad (in Brisbane) is selling a LHS one if you are interested (see the markets section).

depends a bit on a couple of factors.

Are they framjes, or complete door tops

Are they the regular steel ones, or the fancy alluminium ones?

I was in the same boat as sleepy, figuratively speaking,
boat a vehicle for 400 for another reason then ended up with a stack of spares and bits left over, plus two perfect doors and tops.
its academic as someone recently told me, if you need a radiator and have to pay $500 for it , but you can buy a complete vehicle, with the bit you want, for the same amount, its still a 500 radiator with spares, ( thanks wazz i think thats how you explained it to me)

While that is often a good idea, it is usually pretty hard to find a cheap landy with good door tops.

mate I know what your saying, all I wanted was the chassis for swb ser3, for the other one i have that had a good top but rusted bottom.
so ended up with an excellent chassis, which i no longer need, two brilliant doors that are going onto the ffr, seats which i need, a swb firewall with no rust holes in it, a good dash, rust free front splash guards, a bonnet that has the original tyre angle holders on it, a lwb aluminium fuel tank,
I am left over the guards, the firewall as i only need the dash and maybe the wiring, the chassis, an ordinary motor, a reasonable gearbox with a pto on it the tub and other stuff. so i figure 400 for the lot is reasonable considering what the good doors sell for.you'll find one.
