73 Rangie Reno Rear Seats

Hows it Going
Am doing a reno on a 73 and have some split/fold seats from a later model and wondered if anyone had done this and is it a drama to do . The seats are from a second beast (another old girl ) that I bought for the Better engine and complete running gear and all those nuts and bolts that might come in handy . The seats look alright and have the high back 60/40 business and thought i'd bung em in .

You've probably already done it by now but I'm pretty sure the hinge mounts on a 2 door are different to those on a 4 door - which I'm guessing those split high backs were on. I had a quick look in the parts book to check, and it looks like it is.:(

Lots of differences in the mountings.

You also have to salvage the brackets behind the C pillars and it may be a little different for a 2 door floor, where I had a 4 door with the 45 degree chamfer at the rear of the passenger footwell.

What I did was make up welded nut plates for under the floor, these were riveted in place to accept the bolts from the hinges.

The brackets on the "C" pillars were fitted on using "Rivnuts" to replicate the original nuts in the body pillar.

Thanks Lotz A Landies and Red Range Rover for your helpful replies , I have the Range Rover Restoration Manual and it details the conversion . I've already moved on and have bodged the original rear seat , thanks again for the help as I was getting a complex wondering if people could tell i'm a pommie by my font .
Seriously this site is superb and this is the only country where you can justify keeping one of these on the move !
