Discosteve graced my house with his presence this morning, it was decided to go for a quiet drive through the country side.
We started of with the local powerline track and discovered a nice tranquil area resembling George130's backyard (we had found a back way into Awaba tip)
It was decided that a trip upto Freemans waterhole was in order so away we went, the Turdis was faultless until we got rooted.
A 3 inch diameter tree root was stuck between the drivers side front and the sidestep. Stuck and hung up, after about 5 minutes of procrastinating, we got a phonecall from Relay, she had just picked up her County, good I say cause were stuck at such and such. This was at 2.30pm.
After numerous recovery attempts, one resulting in a broken front dif we eventually got moving at 8.00pm got to a big downhill mud run and popped one of the Simex's off the rim.
Damage front dif (at least I know what the noise was now)
One rooted Simex.
Late for work, covered in mud, in crap off Relay for dirtying her County, in crap of SWMBO for delaying her.
We had a fun day.
And I lost my mobile phone, twice

Just got home from work and assessed the situation, not all that bad but then again not all that good either. I like the fact that whilst we're still recovering the vehicle, the story is on the forum. Literally I dropped the car off jumped into another and drove to work, I have just had a much needed shower to cleans my person of the sticky Watagan clay

Diff centre is gone gone,
steering damage? well the tyre was off the rim, that did give a slight vibration, does that count?
Apart from that it's all cool bananas.
Thanks heaps for Mat and Relay for coming to our assistance and dirtying their highly polished poo brown County

Good to hear you got hiome....what is it with trips like that, we can go on a 3 day trip, no damage. Then can have an impromptu trip and all sorts of havoc can happen. Main thing is at least you are out and about, can't wait to take mine for its first off road foray,

yep it is a pain when things go wrong I had to leave a vehicle in the bush for two days the high lift jack I was using to get myself unstuck lost a pin in the mud two hours of looking could not find it, no tools no junk lying in the back had cleaned it out had to walk out and hitch hike back home.
Was leaving for aussie in three days time to work, have had joy here as well, two C.V's one drowned ECU but went fine after it dried out, dent in passenger door stuffed rear bumper (Cable ties are great!!) one stuffed drive shaft, one set of driviing lights.
Stopped worrying about scratches long ago it is better to have fun

Yes, I neglected to take my camera.
My story is as follows:
I go to get the Poo back. I'm all yay-ness because well...it's been at the smashies for the last month and a half after my li'l truck incident. But finally...he's coming home.
So what's the first thing you do when getting your best friend back? Firstly, you call up a mate, tell him you're ready to come collect on bullbar (for another of your vehicles)...now that you've got something that'll cope with the trailer. Secondly call and boast about your 'best friend'...to someone else <first mistake>. Next mistake is offering to take his door back. Load it on the trailer...only to learn he's got his pansy butt stuck.
<Sigh>
<Much swearing>
<Break his car>
<More than one trip home>
<Remove part tree root>
<Take pictures with Steve's camera>
<Drag forward>
<Remove rest of tree root>
<Haul backwards>
<Get to relative saftey>
<Break his car again>
<Flat tow to roadside> (Not really flat...and I had to walk/guide. It's a good fitness course when dobbo gets stuck)
<Change tyre>
<Go home>
<Take pain killers...because we all know who -actually- did most of the root removal>
<Sleep>
Needless to say...I'm...peeved. Highly. You can imagine how spotless my Poo was when coming back from the smash repairers. I mean he'd been vacuumed, detailed, washed, dried... He looked SEXY. Then comes dobbo.
On the other hand, I'm not half as peeved as his missus is! So 'tis all good. I'll upload some pics of how dirty Poo got tomorrow...and you can just imagine what the Turdis was like until Steve gets into gear!

See......
They can't really do without woman at all :D
Don't know what Relay's problem is
The way I saw last night.
She called up
she came out (and admitedly, did look good)
she got dirty
she found a root
she got to play for a few hours
she disposed of the root
We played with fire, whilst the boys were away
she then helped me put on a fresh rubber on the side of the road
she went home tired, sore soiled and dirty.
You just can't please these modern women

With no small amount of arguing believe me. It came down to...after the first few days I wrote down the name of who I spoke to, and what was said. Eventually (after hours)...I climbed my way up the ladder to the top. She was, by all accounts, a law-person of some kind (I didn't ask what). I told her what the problem was, who I had spoken to and the hundred different -bs- stories I was fed and that if I didn't have a solution in a week I'd take them to the insurance ombudsman and we'd all have a lovely chat. She was silent for about thirty seconds...I'd say I scared her! Then she said she'll have it solved in 30 minutes. True to her word it was done.
So I guess it came down to the right information to the right person and the problem was solved. A shame that it took 5 weeks for such a solution.

Well granted, not the ones yer all after, but...
Here's what Poo came back looking like. As you can tell, the mud was...well sticky. And turdish. And it got everywhere...even on the interior when a passanger who will remain nameless (read dobbo); left the window down on one of the trips out.
Still, he looks pretty nice all caked up like that?
One has to admit, it was mildly funny, mainly because I wasn't the one that was stuck.

Differential is fine, Simex went back onto the bead when the 20+ kgs of clay was removed.
Both of the front shafts were twisted with the short shaft sheering at the differetial end.
A 2nd hand set of 10 spline axles are going in short term. I fear they won't last long though.
Decision time on what to do.
