View Full Version : I got a promotion

I was promoted to leading hand yesterday:cool::cool::cool::cool:
In 5 years with my Shire job I have gone from lollypop boy to Leading Hand Construction Grader Operator, now 2IC to the Works Manager:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:.
Im rapt, considering when I started with the Shire I had been off work on compo for 2 years with a serious back injury courtesy of a farm accident, doctors doubted that I would ever work in a full time job again.I wasnt prepared to accept that.
This and the wood cutting Ive done over the last year or 2 gives me hope that Im over the injury.Still have lots of BAD days but I hope its all over:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool:

Awesome Andy,
But I bet you will keep that lollypop.:p

Great stuff, Andrew.

At work, I look at all the layabouts on the dole and the pension and think they can't all be incapable of work. The booking office staff tell me they are amazed at the number of young people with pension cards.

So it's inspirational when someone comes along and we get to hear how they get back up and go on.

:clap2: :twobeers: :ehand:

Just stumbled on this and thought I'd boast. Told my boss that after 10 years at the one place I was looking around. He's very understanding, real and considerate. He's always said he didn't want me to leave (I'm 2IC). Today he called me, and asked what he could do to keep me for another 2-3 years....anything! Very nice to feel validated and wanted and appreciated.

All is going extremely well with the job.
We are doing contract work for a neighboring shire,11 to 12 hour days and weekend work catching up on our work.
As Robbie says,Im down in Albany having a well deserved spell,we have been doing long hours since the Xmas spell.
All hands on deck monday, should be VERY busy up until the Xmas break.
They bought me a new toy at Xmas,a CAT 12M,it has no steering wheel or levers, all done by 2 joysticks.Nice machine to operate.
