Is it something to do with copper?, it's interesting how some soils do it and some don't.

I have never seen blue tyres, red maybe but not blue. Is it really blue. That would be interesting. Picture?

It's a Simex thing. Turn the hose on 'em & they'll go blue too.

All mine have done it here in Qld too. I thought it was something to do with the realease agent or lubricant the tyre fitters use to get them on the rim?

not just a simex thing also happens to my BFG's and have seen CAL415's MTR's with blue on them also. I'm pretty sure it's amounts of copper in the soil, mainly clay type soil's.

I noticed it also at the Awaba 4wd training ground (near the Watagans). It was tyre independent & so I believe it to be due to the soil.
Unable to be more specific, however. :(

The (two) sets of 4wd tyres I've bought have both come with blue paint or something covering or around the white writing.
Cheers

Doesn't matter what brand, BFG, Goodyear, Nankang, Simex, Michellin all these have done it but only when they get Watagan clay on them.
It's something in the soil/clay, don't know what though. Perhaps something to do with coal? Is there traces of Copper where there is Coal? I doubt it else there would be a copper mine around here as well as the coal mines.

I've got no pics of them but I've noticed it when I've come back from Mt. Mee. Could it be heat related? It is most noticeable when I've done a few highway miles at low pressures before airing up.
It is a strange effect. If you imagine the area where the sidewalls would get scuffed from off roading, this area has an obvious blue tint to it.

Nah not heat related. Mr father is restoring a car and had just fitted new tyres (cheapies I think) pushed it out of the shed and parked in some wet clay (for me to work on the landie ;) in the shed) Pushed it back in with blue tyres and nice dobs of blue painted clay on the floor. Very odd ...looked just like paint on the tyres and mud. No idea why?

Not sure that it's copper, but cobalt is a distinct possibility. Cobalt will give a very definite blue colour to some clays (depends largely on the pH) when it gets wet.
The only other "chemical" that I see regularly on the ground is "Prussic Blue" which is a clear indicator of the presence of Cyanide. Don't think that's your issue, or at least I certainly hope not.
