Not following you.:(

More information required....maybe a photo or two?

Is the water inside the cabin on the passenger's side?

sorry
its under the car .
to me it looks like the open vent on top of the guard lets water in then it drip outs under again. Do you know the reason for the open vent?

Good question :eek::)

As my Defender is still on the boat :( I'll have to defer to those who have one in the shed.

The driver's side vent serves the air filter (yours is snorkelled from memory)

The one on other side is probably redundant and used to collect rain water ;)

Sorry for the non technical answer but if it doesn't leak inside I wouldn't worry.:)

its just cosmectic it goes stright on to wheel arch, not sure weather its used for left had drive, so dont worry if its out side and not in cabin

On older defenders it's the air intake for the heater. Under the grill is a box that separates the air from the rain water, the water drains out through a one way valve on to the inner guard. Check the valve every once in a while as if it gets clogged with mud the heater fan will fill with water and seize. Don't know if the new ones work the same way.
