...what accessories can I get?
I need a Snorkle - So how close is the Safari to market? If not this week, maybe the Mantec
Cargo Barrier - seems to be akin to the Snorkle availability
Bullbar and winch - What are the options?
Steering guard - I'll talk to Len at Troutbeck
Side steps - Wife wants, I don't ,but I probably won't win this one - Are the OEM tubes the best or is there an better alternative?
Spotties - probably wont bother at first
Dual batteries and Anderson plug - Easy, I'll contact drivesafe
Long range tank - whats available here?
Suspension upgrade - do I need anything above standard for towing a camper trailer?
I'd take the EBC and UHF from the Disco
Am I correct in assuming the Radio/CD will take an iPod/USB connection?
Retail therapy I think is helping my get over everything.

I'm thinking more along the lines of test drive and purchase this week if I can. We've been talking it over and if it drives well for both of us and we can get a 5 seater, we may be able to drive one home.

NO. The Aus spec has the iPod aux. connector blanked off. You should get an aftermarket unit with direct iPod control and I would also recommend a speaker upgrade with perhaps a compact sub-woofer (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/48329-ultimate-07-defender-ice-solution.html).

Moving house, prophylactic advice (http://www.aulro.com/afvb/general-chat/59403-new-rubbers-nearly-new-rubbers.html); sounds like you've already got that plan in the works.

Not what it seems: I have giraffe's legs so these enable the seats to slide back to give more leg room:

I'm not entirely sure but I think that the full power still goes through the switch unrelayed so there is the risk of burning out the switch. I upgraded the wiring on the disco with a traxide unit resulting in more candle power.

Silver is a great colour. Erich has sprayed our (formerly white) Defender silver - funnily enough it looks white at a distance but it's definitely silver....well for the time being anyway, in a few weeks it will be NT "Dusty Red". And once that dust gets into the seals, it's there for keeps!
Kind regards,
Mrs. Bundalene

Thanks Derek, it will be nice to catch up. We are planning to head out this weekend after we drop our Staffy off at the in laws place on the south coast for his annual "spoil treatment". Heading up the usual way through central Qld., Mt. Isa etc and hope to get to Gapuwiyak in time for the Darwin Show long weekend. Will be in contact before we come in to Gove. I think you may need a beer at the GC after what you have both been through.
Cheers, Erich

Just a quick but in...
Are you talking about getting the new Ford Engined Defender or a new TD5 Defender?
I went to try one of the Ford ones... Ended upo buying another ex Demonstrator TD5 instead! Must admit though I did like the dash layout and the lower first gear. Not as much trash space in the dash though.

Hi Jon, yes talking about a new Puma motor 110 SW. You've probably read the thread on what I did to my Disco.
What's the general opinion of the 2.4L Defender in the UK?
