I've noticed a lot of Members love to fish . So Just wondering which method of fishing do you prefer ?

Myself I like lure fishing as it keeps you active and the challenge of making the fish take the lure .

I used to through lures around chasing trout a fair bit but now i normally head to the beach or rocks a bait fish.I actually prefer to go out in a boat but don't own one and don't look like getting one.I enjoy going on charter boats.Fishing with a few mates and beers is great fun and relaxing.;)

I like the lures but would love to learn to use fly's. Never tried it but it looks like something I'd enjoy. Not sure about wading in croc habitats flicking a fly:o

and i thought it was salt water v fresh, fresh water is more challenging fishing in the ocean is like fishing in a fish tank you know your going to catch something, me though i like to cast out some bait as usually my old man sits there bait fishing and then i go for a wander with my flick stick

Great Lures particularly if you are fishing deep as you said lakes ect. Also at the right price around $4.00 and their Aussie. Caught more trout on these than all my expensive jap lures put together.

I don't often fish for trout but my nan and pop have a propety at hanging rock just above nundle in NSW and there are two dams in which hold trout and we have found the best lure to be a 3" soft plastic stick bait.

Sure Did....
These rainbows are great fun to catch .... and don't like being pulled back to the dinghy. Lake Meadowbank has been stocked with rainbow trout & salmon up to 14Lbs. so its gives the angler the opportunity to catch a trophy size fish...
cheers smally

Sorry Tim,

I mean't 7 kilo worth of Bream.

Some bit over the Kilo mark.

Great fish for this time of year.

I like the soft plastics as I have never gut hooked whilst using the sp's. All are lip hooked which improves the survival rate dramatically.

Woops!!
I'd still like to see a 7kg bream though:D
I rarely do any bait fishing anymore now i'm into sp fishing, and i havn't ever gut hooked a fish yet while fishing with sp's either.
In the rivers i let all the bream i catch go and the ones i catch off the rocks most the time keep for a feed, but i have never kept over 4 fish at a time;)

Soft plastics and fly for me, got taught to flick flies around by Rod Harrison a few years ago now. He used to teach at the ponds in Ningi.

Have to say I do more bait drowning than anything, but I do dabble in it all though. Have a thoooousand lures for every type of fish in the sea, an am just getting back into the fly game again. Saltwater flyfishing is a bit different to the 4# trout rig I used to throw around down south!

:twobeers:

Looking at he pole result's I can see why we dont sell fly gear any more. It used to be 40% of our turnover but now equated to 6% or so. It seems that it is a dying art.

I wonder why this is so?

I started up flyfishing again a couple weeks ago after a 9 year break and was surprised our local tackle shops do not supply fly fishing gear like they used to.
