G'day all, Have just finished my 1966 109" get her registered in the next week or so. The government has decided I am entitled to some of my tax dollars back. So I am looking for another project. Series 1,2,2a or 3 haven't decided yet but would love something ex-military. So if anyone has a near or complete vehicle they want rid of but want to see survive I am ready to start undoing all the rusty bolts again. Somewhere around Brisbane would be good too.

Gunbuggy.

Thats what I thought but I am almost positive they have more than 2 seats, been a while since I have drooled over Dinty's collection though.

Isn't there a seat in the back of the Gunbuggy for the gunner to sit?

My mate's Gunbuggy currently has three seats, but as far as I know, they are only meant to have two front seats. There is only two little windscreens, which happens to be a pain if you are the middle passenger in his Gunbuggy. The barrel is meant to go in the middle.

thethink,

You win:)

She is a 1963 Series 2A Ambulance, one of the few originally fitted with a Capstan winch.

Aaron IIA,
I can't say what the later Ambulances had in the way of front seats, but the early ones had a tool box between the front seats.
The tool box still has the original rubber "grip pad" glued to the top of it. I beleive this was so the drivers off sider could step through to the back of the Ambo while on the move.

I've included a couple of photo's FYI..

Cheers

All of the ambulances are only supposed to have 2 front seats, but all of them have seats for 8 in the back (or 4 stretchers ;)

I recall seeing that ambulance on e-bay some time ago, the rear has been modified for camping hasn't it?

G'day Phoenix,

Yes that is the same Ambo. The only mods are a couple of peices of ply hinged to the walls with chains suspended fron the ceiling to act as bunks.

It is pretty original apart from not having the original strechers and various medical kit in the rear.

It seems to have been painted white at some stage, maybe UN.

Do we have any details about which Ambos were set up for UN work.

I seem to recall some were preped for the UN to go overseas (where I don't know) but never ended up going?

This vehicle has not done a lot of work....

And yes I haven't forgotted to the the info for REMLR as discussed etc:)

G'day All, It's missing the 60 amp ammeter, looks like it could have been replaced by someone, is that a volt meter in it's place?.
Under bonnet has had some custom wiring done as well, as it's not standard, but still looks a tidy unit cheers and good luck with it,, Dennis:wasntme:

Well Uncle,

I'm not sure about being a four stretcher front line Ambo. What does one look for to establish the above?

What I can tell you is that CalVIN indicates October 1961 till March 1963.

And through the hard working REMLR crew (much appreciated) that it was

I had another look at my friend's ambulance this morning. It has the tool box in the middle. My memory was confused, as I last rode in it in October 2003. We had three in the front and three in the back while driving around Canopus. Someone must have been sitting on a pillow on the toolbox.

Aaron.
