We have an AULRO fundraiser raffle in the wings to celebrate the opening of our fishing shack.
A member has donated a $350 rod/reel combo to suit your fishing persuit,ie beach boat jetty etc.

Im conducting a raffle to support AULRO.Member Naradataranto through the Fishing Takle shops he manages,A Fish Out of Water has kindly donated a quality rod and reel combo to the value of $350.He has also included delivery.MANY THANKS TO NARADA and his stores,A FISH OUT OF WATER.
We are selling 100 tickets@ $5 ea,no limits,first in first served!!!
I will PM all who order tickets,payment is to be made to the AULRO online bank A/C.BSB and AC details will be given in the PM.
I exclude myself and family from entering,anybody is welcome to enter,including AULRO moderators.
Postage to Australia only,outside Australia is the winners responsability.

It's hard togo past a Shimano Baitrunner reel in either 3500,4500or 6500 size for the big fishies. Great from the boat or the beach. The 4500 size is the best all rounder RRP is $265.00 from Shimano. Also the Penn Liveliner is quite good RRP 229.00.
Then you need the rod:D

baitrunner is tempting.. as it could be a nice dual use reel.

this is my current setup

a) beach fishing - i have a 12ft jarvis walker combo that got me started and does a reasonable job.. but its not harder to get nicer on these kind of rods..

b) Boat gear - I have 2 rods and reels - 1 saratoga snapper rod 6ft and a cheapish but nice running overhead reel (first boat rod kit to get me going) and i have a nice better rod a bargain at $30 from anaconda instead of rrp of $269, and mid sized shakespeare overhead reel. im guessing you can never have too many boat rods :)

i generally boat fish more

so i generally seem to prefer overhead reels for boat fishing as i generally dont troll or use lures or plastics.. thats not to say i wont tho.. :)

i get broken quite frequently from the boat.. mainly rays.. but there is something else maybe shark or samson that runs like a train.. happens usually once an outing.. thats using 15kg main line with 20kg leader.. and im gentle (ex UK coarse fisherman fetching in 20+lb carp on 2.2lb line.. on a roach pole :) )

so the idea of the baitrunner is a nice idea.. what overhead options would you recommend.. and also what rod would you suggest :)

i wish i had a bit of time to research this nicely.. im in the middle of renovations again.. :(
