Noticed a few people into Mountain Biking on here at times and wondered what sort of bikes people were riding. I have a Trek ex7 after destroying a Cannondale Scalpel and a Trek Madone 5.5 for the road.
cheers JP :twobeers:

Got myself a Cannondale (Team Saeco replica) with Dura Ace, carbon cranks, seat post and bar for the road (I love this bike).:D:D

Also got a Specialized S-Works dual suspension mountain bike (equipped with the 'Brain') for the dirty stuff. I also love this bike.:D:D:D

Unfortuantely I have had back problems for the last 18 months and only just started back on the pushy after a break of 12 months.:(:(:(

Man, it's hard to get the legs going again.;);)

i bought myself a GT tempest back in '92. really good alloy frame but everything else on it was steel. over the years it got a set of really early rockshocks, alloy headstock, cranks, wheels, seatpost, and carbon fibre bars bringing it down to about 13 kg.
all i need is a bit of enthusiasm to get back on it.

Giant Trance 2 2007 .... wish I had it last week... went to Scotland for a holiday with my family and rode the Ben Nevis XC 2008 championship course at Fort William with my 13yo son... what a blast, but rode on hired cannondales (we did take our clips though which made the uphills and jumps easier...)

Got some nice LR shots whilst in Scotland - you could hardly not miss them!

Don't worry I didn't spend anywhere near that much for it. That was on top of the $2000 it cost him to buy.

I do a bit of commuter cycling and mucking around in the bush in my own time, but I do most of my cycling these days as a public safety cyclist.

My bike(s) - '98 Giant Rincon SE.

Old, not brilliant but got 2 of them at the right price (ex St John Ambulance cycle response team)

Would love to get a decent bike but I flog the crap out of this one and I can't say it has let me down yet. If it did I always have another one.

Out of interest, the new responder cycles are Trek 6500s. I find that the frame flexes a lot more than the old Giants and I wonder whether they will last nearly as long...

Admittedly though, we do put 20kg of gear on them and ride up and down stairs...

The disc brakes and better suspension on the new bikes is a welcome advance though. ;)

I have an Orbea Zenit, I got it for the Crocodile Trophy in October. Then we brough a Disco to transport them around in (a lot easier than a Barina!)

I just picked up my new Trek Ex8 on Monday after wearing out my previous Trek hard tail. So far I have done 200km in 2 days and absolutely love it. For a dual suspension it flies on the road and I made a couple of road bikes embarrassed when I went past making heaps of noise with the knobblies.

I have a Santa Cruz Bullit for DH/freeride. It is a few years old now but the frame is tough as nails, I like the 5th Element shock and I just replace other stuff as I break it. I crashed once on Whistler Mountain and broke the seat, seatpost, both shifter pods, a brake lever and destroyed both wheels and the rear hub. I replaced all that, plus the bar, stem, fork and various other bits afterwards. I also broke 3 ribs, 3 bones in my right foot and punctured a lung in the same crash, but that sorted itself out just fine:p

A while ago I realised my jumping needed a lot of work, so I bought a Banshee Morphine. The frame is so stiff that when you case a landing your fillings just about fall out. It teaches you to be very, very smooth.

For all mountain/XC I have a Santa Cruz Blur LT. Probably a little heavy and a little too much travel, but I'm over breaking something (on me or the bike) every weekend.

The best thing is that all 3 fit nicely in the back of the County:D

I have an "03 big hit DH/FR and a Merida something hardtail (really the wife's but I ride it when she isn't). Of late I haven't done much riding, other than commuting (with a few jumps/drops/stairs and a short dirt track along the way). Keen to get out and ride some tracks around Perth some time.

Stiching is old school - a couple of weeks ago I super glued a deep gash in a mate's hand after he hit the house on a BMX bike. I can recommend it. After 5 mins work we went back to beers & BBQ instead of going to the hospital and sitting around for a few hours. They don't even let you drink in the waiting room

I rode a couple with the old suspension setup and the was told to hold off for a couple of months until they brought the new setup in. It is a lot better now.

I have a Kona Coiler. Love this bike, but havent even seen it in 2 years. It is still back in Melbourne, can't wait to get there at christmas and take it out.

Used to freqently ride Mt Donna Buang and Mt Dandy. Mt Donna is by far my favorite though, min 20min completely down hill, hanging on by your finger nails.

Great bikes, Hucksta - see why you love'em.
I don't have a road bike: the bike I ride on the road is an 07 Specialized Tricross (Expert Double). Brilliant for my sort of riding. A favourite ride is a loop from Warburton to Marysville and back to Warburton via the Acheron Way - of which 10km or so is rough-ish gravel. Mates on road bikes find it quite stressfull. Not me: the TriCross has 700 x 32 tyres. Dura-Ace rear, Carbon cranks, tough but weighs 9.8kg. OK, I know your Cannondale would be 2 or 3 Kg lighter, but I could lose that!

Also have a Stumpjumper FSR Comp - but I'm a bit of a tyro on the mountain bike.

Recently replaced my Rangie with a Disco. One good outcome is I can stand the TriCross upright in the back, which I definitely couldn't in the Rangie.

Happy pedaling!
