Did anyone see the 1986 110 Dual Cab ute for sale on ebay today.Thats identical to the one I have except I have converted mine to 4BD1T/LT95 with a galvanised chassis and covered the rear in.They are a great combination as you can have the family etc in cabin out of the dust and muttsy or tools etc in the back.Would be a good buy for someone wanting to convert it.

That one's been on the market off and on for a while. I think it is a conversion to dual cab from 110 rather than the original thing.

Did it sell?

Cheers

Hi Simon, I am 99.9 % sure this is an original. The chassis number is only 6 different from mine. They actually were wagons that were converted by Landrover before delivery by shortening the cab and adding a turntable in the rear cargo floor to accommodate the 5th wheeler hitch.I'll bet it still has the extra frame welded to the chassis above rear axle where the turntable bolted on. Also the aux fuel tank on drivers side is the same as mine. I think it still has 6 days to go on ebay - will be interesting to see what it goes for. K's seem a bit low for the vintage.Regards...Brian

Has it still got the gooseneck for the 5th wheller?

I notice your reserve was not met, why not? Fine it's a bit of a rarity but it's still in reality a V8 County, they're almost giving them away nowadayswe were considering it until we saw the price, with a rebuild based on an Isuzu and the gooseneck it would make a no nonsense tow vehicle.

Sorry if my post offends, but I am just stating what others think.

If you seriously want the vehicle gone with a realistic price send me a pm.

THATS A VERY NEGATIVE COMMENT,
I HAVE NEVER SEEN THE GOOSENECK BUT THE FRAMEWORK ON THE CHASIS IS STILL THERE AND SO IS ALL THE WIRING, PLUGS AND FITTINGS. INCLUDING THE STUFF UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT.
WITH LESS THAN 20 BUILT ITS GOT TO BE WORTH SOMETHING. NOT TO MENTION A STANDARD V8 COUNTY WAGON IS WORTH ABOUT 5500 INSURED VALUE.

Ease of on the caps lock mate. I speak the truth, sometimes when we don't like things they appear to be negative. Deep down you know it too.

Reality check, a Spitfire is a historic vehicle, an Aston Martin is a historic vehicle A LRPV is a historic vehicle.

I would love to know who has insured a V8 County for $5500, I cannot get my Isuzu County insured for that.

a simple comment like fellow landy member nice car i wish i could afford it or goodluck with the auction would suffice.
for your information, as it is a rare vehicle it is not on any insurance company records so it is insured as a standard market value of a 1986 county 110 wagon which is $5500 with NRMA.

Dearest fellow landy member, nice car i wish i could afford it, but you want too much.

Perhaps you should restore it.

Now the truth, in all it's uglyness

With the complete Gooseneck, in excellent condition and on a good day and a dumb punter, maybe $4500. Sorry I don't pay too much for old cars. Take a grand off for the gooseneck missing, less for scruffy looking doors, historical knowledge that it's been around Aus wouldn't help the corosion issues or the resale value either. Neither can the fact you can pick up a late 90's P38a Rangie for around the sale price you are asking.

$2500 tops

Hey there Big Al,
it's a nice, rare vehicle that is quite probably the only one I've seen for sale in 5 years... but unfortunately that doesn't necessarily make it worth more $$$. Someone on here was looking for a 110 dual cab not long ago - do a search and you might turn it into a sale (there is even a post in the markets about it).

Dobbo might sound 'negative' to you as the seller, but the reality is that while you might be a purveyor of what amounts to a rhode island red's tooth, you need to find someone who wants a not just any old hen's tooth, but the specific rhode island red one that you have.

If it had the Isuzu, you could probably sell it 10 times over for $5k this week (I'd be in that group myself!), but as seen in this very forum, a few mint v8 wagons have gone for not much over $2k this year.

you must be one of the 127 watchers on ebay,
it is the original paint and those marks you see on the doors are mambo stickers that have always been there. if you go through posts in previous years you will see that car has been mentioned a few times even before i was a member. the car has only 228000 kms as it has always been a country car, not bad for its age, not to mention unmodified.

We are enthusiasts, but were not idiots as well, considering it's rarity, if you want it to go to a good home may I suggest donating it to a motoring museum. At least that way it will stay unmodified and in your possession

Hi, just found this site, I've nearly finished my 86 110 duel cab. Any tips where the rear seat belt reels should mount? I still want to use the trim of the 130 cab still so it has to go low.

As always a car is worth what someone is willing to pay for it..if it was for sale here in the West I would snap it up.
Trouble is with us Landrover enthusist we know what they are looking for.
Maybe you could donate it to the LROCWA they need a Landrover or two.

No 5.5k is not a lot of cash, but in reality what Enthusiast would pay that much over the redbook value of the vehicle for a standard V8 County? An Isuzu or higly modified V8's, definately, not a standard 3.5 though. Even a person like yourself who's hobbies involve parting them out, would you pay that much?

I'm guessing your thought process would have been the same as mine

buy it cheap, drop and sell the v8 and box, probably get $400 for the engine even $600 if you sell it to a complete idiot. Probably the same idea with the box. Get and install an LT95, Install a 4BD1T, get a gooseneck hitch for the back and a 5th wheeler.

Then, it's a nice tow vehicle.

I wouldn;t pay it, I don;t need a 5th wheeler either, thank god, usually for horses, yuck:mad:

But there are great fans of the crappy rover V8 out there and it is a desireable mod, moreso than an unengineered cut down rangie:D

It'd want to be in as good knick as the add suggests and hopefully better

Well the market was keen - I pulled out at close to $5K with 35 bids in all.
Well done Big Al! :)
Now where are all these Isuzu Counties for $2.5K?

The winner has never bought on eBay before.
The underbidder has a bid retraction in his history.

I have to agree that the wording on that ad was full of the brown stuff.
But then there is the saying "BS baffles brains"
My 1985 County never leaked water from new ( according to orig owner) and to justify faulty electrics as being there 'just as it did from the factory' is an un necessary general slagging off of Landies IMHO.
Anyway, it sold for way above a standard 110 in that condition's worth - so we are told.

And they ( electrics) go downhill with age.:(
I understand you needed to sell it, and the ad obviously hooked in a live one.
Well done.
But I still cant help agree with Dobbo about the brown stuff.
Maybe I'm annoyed I decided to wreck my County instead of getting it to RWC and Ebay.

I love Lucas electrics, they are my bestest customer...:p

They've been really good to me. They've paid my rent, they've helped me pay my suppliers on time, they've EVEN contributed to my superannuation fund and annual holidays!

You can't get more helpful and considerate than that, so stop giving them a bagging:p

(Rant and 'stupid attempt at humour' hijack over)

As Land Rover Owners, we have come to appreciate the marvels of Lucas electrics. For those less familiar, the following may help shed some light (as your Lucas lights are unlikely to shed much).

The Lucas motto: "Vado domus ante noctis' or 'Get home before dark'.
Lucas denies having invented darkness. But they still claim the 'sudden, unexpected darkness'.
Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Thomas Edison created the light bulb. Joseph Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
Lucas - inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
Lucas - inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
The three position Lucas switch - Dim. Flicker. Off.
The original anti-theft device - Lucas Electrics
If Lucas made guns, wars wouldn't start either.
It is not true that Lucas, in 1947, tried to get Parliament to repeal Ohm's Law. They withdrew their efforts when they encountered too much resistance.
Back in the '70s, Lucas decided to diversify their product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which didn't suck.
The Lucas Q&A Department called Engineering to advise problems with their design shorting out, so engineering made the wires longer.
Lucas systems actually use AC - it just has random frequency, that's all.
Why do the English drink warm beer? They have Lucas refrigerators.
Headlamps by LUCAS - Like Underpowered Candles And Starlight.
