In response to the question in the other thread, it looks like a 180B SSS.

My answer came from the sound , it sounds more like a triple delorto or weber carb six cyl than a 4 cyl:cool:

Front bumper's too square though. On the 160J pic I found it shows the much more rounded ends of the bumper same as that in the vid.

A customer of mine has an immaculate Datsun 2000. Looks like a mini James Bond Aston Martin. She's had it from new, and remembers in her younger years, dragging off cops in their hotted up Mini Cooper's.

Very, very nice car.

I hope she leaves me in her will.:p

A 120y is a B710 as far as the chassiumber goes....

And that looks surprisingly similar in body to a 120y coupe other than the grill.

In Japan the 120y came out with a grill like that and round tail lights in the GX model with a A12a twin carbi and 5 speed with 1st under rev and ran 3.83:1 LSD diff centre.

confusion is comparing a Datsun 2000 to a 120Y,,,:p

My second car was a "Cleanaway" blue 200B with a vinyl roof. 4 speed, Alpine stereo, terrible brakes and a worse clutch. But a great and reliable car:D

Why they called it a 200B I don't know. I think it had a 1900cc motor.

Probably because the engine was an L20b, 1960cc Im pretty sure but basically just a bored and stroked L18 from the 180b and that was just a bored out L16 from the 1600 (B510) :D

Wow all my useless datsun information is coming out :o

Yep that's the one, only available as a grey import too Australia.

Hey! the front rotors were 9" and fitted straight onto my 1600.
That and a (dare I say it--) 120y brake booster made my day!

and I think the CC is wrong?

WOT?

the colour?
the vinyl roof on a 200B?

because they sold millions of 200B's,,

that are mostly now oxide of one kind or another--:D

It was actually a new block (about 25mm taller) to accomodate the longer stroke. The head has a larger combustion chamber too. But essentially the same engine.

The 240K brakes were the ones to have. Slightly larger (9.5" i think) with twin piston calipers. Still bolted onto the 1600. That was the best part of the old Dattos - all the parts are interchangable.
My 1200 coupe has Stanza balljoints (the big ones - there are two sizes) so that the 240K steering arms an struts bolt straight in. Fitting the L20B and 260Z gearbox wasn't as straight forward though.

yep,, the SSS 200B had the 9.5's too,,
my 260 mated fine behind my L20,,,
??

replaced several slave cylinders before going to ceramics,,

with 30" tyres the 5th speed was a waste(even with the 4.6diff):p:p

you could get a 5.1,,(must have been awesome with 14" wheels:eek:)

forget where that came from--:(

edit;

Doh!

into a 1200!!!
mate, the 260 use to knock on the tunnel in the 1600!! :)

Yeah, it's tight. Never hits the tunnel though. Probably due the the very rigid engine and gearbox mounts I've made.

Rigid???

try a 25mm HT bolt with 10mm x 55mm eurathane collar welded upright on a bracket to the subframe,, the corresponding ID pipe was welded to the motor,,
then the lot was slowly lowered vertically into the engine bay,, nylock on top.

yes you could remove the engine with the twin 45's still attached,,

if you removed the radiator,,,

rigid?

LOL!!:D
