Aston Martin has teased us today with a sneak peak at the company’s latest supercar, the One-77.
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/08/993.jpg (http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/aston-one77small.jpg)
Not much is known about this car, which has been kept under wraps, but what we do know is that it is set to turn the Aston Martin image on its head.
Currently recognised for making desirable (but heavy) grand-tourers and sports cars, Aston Martin has been secretly developing the One-77 for a limited build run.
The difference with this car, is an all new chassis made from carbon-fibre, which along with aluminium panels will keep weight to a minimum.
Also new is a 7.0-litre V12 which Aston Martin says will offer “exhilarating performance for a strictly limited number of discerning customers.”
The name, refers to “One of 77″ as implied by its new website - www.one-of-77.com
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/08/994.jpg (http://www.caradvice.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2008/08/aston-one77large.jpg)
The company says that the One-77 is “the ultimate creative interpretation of the renowned British marque.” With a price-tag said to be around the £1 million mark, the hand-built supercar is said to be very special.
A front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout appears to be used, and although Aston Martin is cagey about the details, CarAdvice believes the engine to be an enlarged version of the existing 6-litre V12 used in the DBS (http://www.caradvice.com.au/12405/aston-martin-dbs-first-steer-video/).
The transmission is also unknown, but it’s obviously going to have to be able to handle enough grunt to rocket the car from 0-100km/h in a mooted 3.5 seconds. Top speed is also projected to be over 320km/h.
Right and left-hand drive versions will be available, with Aston Martin Australia confirming that an Australian spec car would be on the cards if there was sufficient interest (read: money put on the table).
The forthcoming Paris Motor Show seems to be the expected reveal of the car, and CarAdvice will bring you pictures and more details as soon as they come to hand.

Two new images and more details about the limited edition Aston Martin One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AstonMartinOne77/) have surfaced, providing us with a price, a handful of specs and some new views of the bespoke supercar.
Despite what the original teaser revealed, sources indicate that the One-77 will be packing a naturally aspirated 7.3-liter V12, as opposed to a 7.0-liter unit, putting out 700 hp and 553 lb.-ft. of torque. Power will be channeled through a rear, mid-mounted six-speed automated manual transmission, featuring Auto Shift Manual and Select Shift Manual (ASM/SSM), and controlled by an electro-hydraulic system.
http://www.blogsmithmedia.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2008/09/am_one_77_rear_250op.jpg (http://www.autoblog.com/photos/aston-martin-one-77-teaser/1063260/)The coupe will be available in left- or right-hand-drive, but seating will be limited to two. The exterior body panels will be made of handcrafted aluminum, while the monocoque body structure will be fashioned from carbon fiber. A deployable rear spoiler, adaptive suspension, carbon ceramic brakes and stability/traction control are all part of the package, and the One-77 is expected to tip the scales at just over 3,300 pounds.
A "Direct Customer Sales Contract" was supposedly leaked to 925.nl, which covers the details in all their fine-print glory, along with the price tag. One of 77 One-77s will set you back £1,050,000, excluding VAT and all the other taxes that go into the purchase. While Aston Martin isn't on the schedule for this week's Paris Motor Show (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ParisMotorShow/), we're hoping to catch a glimpse of the new coupe in the City of Lights before it goes on sale towards the end of 2009.

If you're looking to be one of the lucky (and rich) buyers of the Aston Martin One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AstonMartinOne77/), you may already be too late. Aston claims that over 100 wealthy buyers have signed up for the One-77 supercar, though it plans to build only enough to satisfy the car's label: 77. Amazingly, those customers have dropped a £200,000 deposit without ever having so much as seen a totally uncovered (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/10/02/paris-2008-aston-martin-one-77-partially-revealed/) photo of the British supercar. But hey, it's an Aston, so how ugly can it be? If you've got money to burn, we can think of few ways to better spend over £1 million on an automobile, especially considering that it's rare enough to actually increase in value over time. It would help, too, if you could park and store a vehicle with a carbon fiber chassis, aluminum body, and 700-hp V12 engine, but that doesn't sound like much fun at all. From what we've seen of the car so far, it wouldn't be fair to force the museum life on the One-77.

I had the great pleasure of a tour inside the old Aston Factory at Newport Pagnell when I was in the UK for a few years. I lived in Milton Keynes, literally 10 minutes drive from home.
It was such a "boner moment" watching these craftsmen hand beat (pardon the pun......!) the panels from flat pieces of sheet, one man one engine builds and seeing someone tag the car with their own personal plate. I literally had to tie a jumper over my crotch!!!
Now Ford owns it and they moved it all to Warwickshire and although some work is still done by hand, its basically mechanised to a fairly high extent now, but the offices are absolutely fantastic.
I knocked on their door every month for about 16 months trying to get any job I could there to no avail......
I love my Rangie, but Astons are my vice!!!

Later today in Geneva, Aston Martin will officially unveil the One-77, which represents all the brand has to offer in terms of craftsmanship and engineering. The front-engine, rear-wheel-drive supercar features a very special version of Aston Martin's 6.0L V12 engine that's been tuned by the legendary motor mavens at Cosworth. Enlarged to a full 7.3 liters of displacement, the One-77's V12 is a full 25% lighter than the engine on which it's based while producing in excess of 700 bhp. The One-77 also features a monocoque tub comprised entirely of carbon fiber, which helps keep its curb weight around 3,300 lbs. A unique inboard suspension system, six-speed sequential manual gearbox and carbon ceramic brakes at all four corners are just a few of the top shelf standard features that One-77 customers will be getting. Add it all up and Aston Martin expects a 0-60mph time of just 3.5 seconds and top speed over 200 mph. The One-77 will be the most powerful and fastest Aston Martin ever made and represent the brand's zenith. It'll be tough to top this one, that's for sure. Stay tuned for live pics of the Aston Martin One-77 later today from the floor of the Geneva Motor Show (http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/).

Prominently featured on the Aston Martin stand on the first day of this year's Geneva Motor show was the rolling chassis of the very first One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/06/aston-martin-one-77-uncovered-in-depth-on-whats-under-the-skin/) prototype. By day two it had been be removed and replaced by the unfortunate Lagonda concept. The chassis had to be returned to the UK so that the bodywork and interior could be added. This week, the finished car had its coming out party on the shores of Italy's Lake Como, home to the rich and famous.
The exterior was no surprise since we had already seen the styling buck and renderings, but this was the first time the finished interior had been shown. No doubt purchasers of the 77 examples will all have the opportunity to customize the finish, materials and color combinations before Aston Martin begins deliveries late this year. Hopefully, our friends at Aston Martin will give us the opportunity to take one for a spin before

Aston Martin finally took the wraps off the first completed One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/One77/) this past weekend at the Concorso d'Eleganza on the shores of Lake Como and came away with the top design prize at the event. Aston Martin CEO Dr Ulrich Bez was on hand to show off the car that we saw in skeletal form (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/03/06/aston-martin-one-77-uncovered-in-depth-on-whats-under-the-skin/) at the Geneva Motor Show (http://www.autoblog.com/category/Geneva-Motor-Show/) in March. While the aesthetics of this new Aston have drawn decidedly mixed reviews, there is no doubt that it is a striking machine. The huge grille flanked by large air scoops is a departure from the classically beautiful Astons of the last 15 years and even goes well beyond the DBS. However, when considered in the context of its functionality, the appearance makes much more sense. Check out new high-res images released by Aston Martin today of the first completed One-77 in the gallery below.

Yep gorgeous.
There's plenty of films about it on the Aston Martin website too.
It's not the comfortable everyday sports car that other Astons are. This has no or very little soundproofing - designed to allow you to hear that WONDERFUL engine and all the mechanical goings on while propelling you at more than reasonable speeds !
Have a big lip on your driveway ? No problem each One-77 is built to custom for exactly your garage / your road conditions etc. One of these vehicles has been sold into Australia so no doubt the road conditions it's set up for are "atrocious".
Seats ? Do you fit them ? Yep they are essentially custom formed around YOU.
and so on.
Magical, and for the very rich.
Wish I was one !

Aston Martin One-77 at the Nurburgring – Click above for high-res image gallery
Yeah, yeah. We know the Aston Martin (http://www.autoblog.com/make/aston-martin/) One-77 has already shown its hips to the world, but our crack team of spy photographers have managed to lay their lenses on one of the super-exclusive Astons bumping around the Nurburgring. Even better, the megacar is dipped in a new color that we've yet to see. The deep metallic bronze paint is drop dead gorgeous, even on what appears to be nothing more than a pre-production engineering mule.
The One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/05/03/video-white-aston-martin-one-77-goes-for-a-spin/) is built to be an exercise in what Aston Martin can accomplish when cost and exclusivity are no barrier. With a 7.3-liter V12 (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/15/video-mustang-gets-aston-martin-vanquish-v12/) under the hood producing a proletariat-crushing 700 horsepower, the coupe exists in a world detached from reality. That's just fine, though, because Aston Martin is only building 77 of the cars, and with each coming in at a staggering $1.8 million, the people who can afford it aren't of this world anyway.

I read in the paper awhile back that one had been sold to an Australian customer. After import duty, taxes and a like the report cost was in the vicinity of 4 million Ozzy! The same article stated that the One-77 was the only Ultra Super car able to be registered in Australia. Apparently the Bugatti Veyron and the Koenigsegg don’t meet the ADR rules? Well that’s what the article said anyway. I love all Astons, some more so than others. ;)

First Aston Martin One-77 delivered to Monte Carlo

It's official, ladies and gentlemen: Aston Martin (http://www.autoblog.com/make/aston-martin/) has entered the million-dollar ultra-hyper-supercar league with the new One-77 (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/One-77).
Now, we know what you're thinking, the One-77 was released a while ago already. But it wasn't until now that the first example has left the factory and delivered to its first lucky (and evidently very wealthy) customer. Delivery took place in no less prominent a location than Monaco, right in front of the iconic Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo.
The One-77 carries a stratospheric €1,340,000 (~$1.8m) price tag, but that's only if you got on board at the beginning – if you were one of the final seventeen customers to place your order, the price reportedly went up by £150,000 (~$240k) for a final sticker of $2.04 million, With the first of 77 examples now delivered, the production run is set to conclude at the end of the year.
