I was up under the D2 earlier today and low and behold tucked up where I had never noticed it before was a spare key (including electronic fob) held in place with some tie wire.
Now I have had the thing for 10 months or so now and the previous owner failed to mention this one. But I cleaned the outside of it and it works a treat.
Nice score on my behalf :)
I really didn't think these would be that water/mud/dust proof but this thing has been through a fair bit for who knows how long.

That's about a $400 find, well done. ;)
Also had bit of luck when I found the plastic front tow point cover wedged under and behind the front grill. I reckon the previous owner had assumed it had dropped off. No idea of the value, it just needed it to look better.

I love these stories....
When I bought my D1 ( myself new to Discos ) I asked if it only had a cassette tape drive. Yes was the answer. ( no CD). I thought oh well no problem, I'll just replace the radio/cassette with an aftermarket unit. A few days later when I was showing it off to a mate who has a Disco himself, he put his hand under the driver's seat and said "did you know you've got a 10 CD stacker under there".
That stacker has since gone to heaven ( too many water crossings ) but it was a rare win for me at the time.

I have had keys hidden up under previous vehicles but never with an electronic fob. If I was going to put it back it will be in a small pelican type case.

I once got one of those magnetic key-safes which I stuck up under one of my cars just in case I locked the main keys inside.....
.....bloody stupid idea - it was gone within a fortnight.

Similar scenario only I was asking the salesman - "what's that box under the drivers seat?"
He told me it was the ECU!!
My stacker still works although the head unit is playing up - you haven't got the old one by any chance ;)

You too. I found a dirt encrusted door key wired to a chassis outrigger under the County when servicing the sedimenter. Not much use except to get in out of the weather unless an ignition key was hidden inside. Might even do that.

Well before a trip away on the June (WA) long weekend, I found a very nice secure spot for a spare key complete with electronic fob which should be out of harms way and fairly water proof - and no I'm not telling :p ;)
Similar experience when I bought my Renegade in Feb - said "oh it should have a CD stacker" and the salesman said "no" - thought oh well too bad, then opened the centre cubby bin to find the factory Alpine unit stuffed in there! Both now gone in favour of an Alpine/iPod setup but was a nice find at the time. :)
