I have contacted this guy and told him that and this is his reply......
I have spent well over $100,000 on the car and I have a sworn valuation and have the car insured for $55,000 - and I'm sure you know how hard it is to get valuers to give you a decent figure for modified cars.
This is a one-off vehicle that is for the SERIOUS 4wd person who KNOWS what they want and knows what it will cost to get it!
You couldn't build this car today for $100,000 anyway because no-one will can make you the active suspension and that's one of the main features.
There are so many custom-made parts that is only someone who knows the REAL difference that they all make that will be able to TRULY appreciate it.
If that's not you then I wish you all the best.
The reality is, even if it was just a straight supercharged 4.6 with 36 inch tyres and long range tanks and you knew nothing about the rest of the car, it is still good buying at 40 grand!
Thanks,
Mike.
I wonder what the donor was for so called Active Supension. Tony

At the end of the day it is still a seventeen years old Range Rover. Take it to a dealer and ask him to buy it or put it to auction unreserved and you will learn one of the facts of automotive life. I am very surprised that he has managed to get a valuer to put that price on it, and even more surprised to find that an insurance company has accepted that valuation.

You should be able to engineer 34's on a County, as the One Ton and armored car versions came with 9.00x16's which is a 36. That is how a friend of mine engineered 36's on his car.

From a marketing perspective.......one would think that he would know that his target market would most likely be someone who is into LR's and moreso rangies and do some research first. Its not like it is a run of the mill machine. Even forgetting that, it is a 17yr old car, same model could pick up for nix, spend some coin and you have a good off roader and save yourself heaps of $$$. I mean where can this go that say some of the highly modified beasts on here can't? Nice dream.......but dreamin. For those that have more knowledge in this area, what would be a fair and reasonable price??

"Well, clearly your response says it all. You have NO idea what you are talking about ........
Well, you keep pushing mate and people will note your e-bay ID and see you for the fool that you are and will hopefully choose not to deal with you.
I had 2 offers within 2 days that were TWICE your offer and am happy to prove this in ANY way you can suggest that would not be in violation of those people's privacy. Unlike SOME people, I actually try and do the RIGHT thing!
Now, we can go on like this forever or you can accept this criticism of your pathetic offer for what it is - nothing more and nothing less. You can then keep an eye on the e-bay ad as well as the upcoming magazine article and you might actually learn something!
Idiots don't have magazines calling them 2 days after listing their ad wanting to do not only a magzine ad but also feature your car on a DVD.
The ONLY person wasting their time here my friend is YOU and now ALL the people who are watching this ad - and I can ASSURE you, it is a LOT - will see you for the poor little loser that you are.

The car has had a total of nearly $200,000 spent on it over 10 years with all the different things we've tried and modified.
It is now a one-off vehicle that simply cannot be replaced for ANY price. However, given the example you gave in your message, the percentages are much the same!
At the end of the day, a SERIOUS person who knows what they want and understands what it would cost to even CONTEMPLATE building something like this will snap this up for the bargain that it is while others will just keep wasting my time with e-bay messages and ridiculous offers!

There is always a problem with things like this
I had bought a 1973 RRC which had a tannie Diesel in it. This was in 1991 and i put a 200 TDi engine and gearbox in It ( now in 1991 they were very expensive, had not been out long)
I then got the truck resprayed and tarted up to look like a CSK rangie
As seen below
From this
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/08/755.jpg
To this
https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/imported/2008/08/756.jpg
When i came to sell this i had spent upwards of $50,000 on it but at the end of the day it was and still is a 1973 RRC 2 Door but with a diesel lump in it . I sold it for $8000 in the end , about 2 grand over what it was worth if it had been a V8
Very important lesson learn't on that car :)
But it is the same as with the 90 i have here now. How much it that worth. At the end of the day the same as everything, As much as someone is willing to pay, and that is the key.
But with this truck i don't belive it has the gear that i would put on a truck. I can't see it as a hard core off roader. Too thirsty for a tourer,
As for the price if i had that amount burning a hole in my pocket i could buy and build a RRC that would beat this one hands down for alot less than this guys wants for this one, or i would simply go and buy a brand new Defender 110 for a bit more.
after all the amounts and pricing he is talking about for things, i think they saw him coming a mile off. $10,000 for surpension god i thought the scrap iron stuff was a rip off, 500 BHP mmmmm yeah i think you are dreaming on that one would like to see the test result as i have a mate who is try hard to make a ranige Hybrid 500 BHp and finding it a bit hard with out Nitous, Yank gear box and axles
As for the comments about Hummers, sorry but any respectfull land rover owner would never even think of compairing their truck to those Yank supermarket off roaders. Hummer 1 mmmmm ok maybe alrright but still not as good as a landy hence why after the first Gulf war the yanks order a hell of a lot of Landys for their services but H2 and H3 oh my god :o

Well it is good to know he has had offers of 20G, I realy did feel sorry for the guy as I was not expecting anyone to offer such an amount.
But truth is if someone has offered him 20G he will prob be able to stretch it out to 25000 and that is a good sale for him IMHO.
So I don't feel so bad, I really only wanted the engine so I am in no way going to offer over 10G, so I am out :(:)

Red Book gives a private sale range of $5200-$7300 and trade-in range of $2700-$4800.
Glass's Guide shows the various models, CSK, Vogue, Vogue SE, etc, and has a private sale range across all models of $6030-$10500, and a trade-in range of $5700-$9600.
This is a 17yo. car and few dealers are interested in cars this old. New car dealerships rarely have anything over 5-6 years old in their used yards. Older trade-ins usually being wholesaled to another dealer or sent to auction. Cars this old, unless exceptional or a specialist vehicle that is the stock-in-trade of a particular dealer, would usually go to a third or fourth tier dealer (bomb dealer). The trades price guides are a bit inaccurate on older vehicles as few are sold through dealers and consequently the guides do not get sufficient data back from dealers to form a firm market.

Hey guys,
This fella lives around the corner from me, he has spent big bucks but from what i understand he will accept 30-35 for it.
I see why he did what he did, and yes spending big dollars on it wont ever get the money back, but it is a wow machine with the fully active suspension set up in it. its pretty wild. The guy said the reason he doesnt have a winch is he has never been stuck. so no need.
All the work was done by andrew from Les richmond.
I want his plates!!!!!

Come the end of the day he does not even state whether it has engineers certificates or comes with a RWC. I would doubt whether it does.
The way I would value it is on the value of the main parts. Second hand value of simex wheels and tyres $1,500. He does not say what diff ratios he is running, so I assume that they are standard. But the second hand value from each diff with locker, $1,000 each. The active suspension is worth nothing. With the blower the motor might be worth around $10,000.
So $15,000 would be good money for it, assuming that you really wanted the motor, and at $20,000 he should take it.
There is no way that he could have spent $200,000 on it.

I saw this on Discoweb It really cracked me up.
Similar deal. Modified Disco2 owner wanting the money they spent back. He too thinks his is one of a kind as it has bolt on accessories.
Here, guy, I'll explain it to you. Modifications pretty much mean nothing. Nothing at all. Commonly, they actually reduce the selling price of a vehicle, because yuppies are the ones dictating stock prices, and yuppies don't want your rig.
That leaves you with US. Mwahahahaha.
We will not pay you for your modifications, because we know some other sot will sell a car just like yours for many thousands less. We control this market, and we are cheap ****s. Why should we pay a premium for work we didn't observe being completed? Read the site, and understand that we do not trust anything at all unless we see it tested to destruction.
Dweb is a great place to make sure your Rover ends up with people who will enjoy it properly. You aren't going to get top dollar here. That's not the point. The point is, you are likely to sell it here. You are likely to get cash in your hand, and a good feeling about the buyer. That's the point. You also get to break off a bit of that change and keep a good thing going.

Hmmm I asked about engineering. He said
The car hasn't officially been engineered but we have done all the work to it to prepare it for that - like the cross bracing on the chassis etc.
I understand that some new rules have come in recently and we have a spare (very restrictive) exhaust system that can be fitted and smaller wheels that remain within the guards to get around any other remaining engineering issues. So, at the end of the day, we have everything you need to get it done, we just haven't had a need to actually do it ourselves yet.

Ok ...
Everyone has been comparing this to the value of what a Rangie is worth ... BUT when you read the specs on what's been done to it ... You may come to the conclusion that it is NOT a Rangie ... But a Full Fruited Go anywhere transport ... in a Rangie body
And that is what you are buying .... A Fun machine // Monster Truck

If it is so easy to get an engineers certificate, why hasn't he done it. It would certainly increase the price he will get for it. Maybe he has tried and that is why he is selling it.

So he charges people many 100s of dollars to take them on a 4wd trip yet he hasn't seen the need to get it engineered?

here is my script
"me: gee toolangi is nice this time of year, but do you really think you should be charging me $800 for the day, I asked you if it was toolangi, you said it was a far away wonder land.
42k RR man: You freaking looser, I cant stand people like you, you cheap *****. I make a RR worth $500,000 and give you a can of coke, and all you can say is that, get out before I beat your damn head in!
me: ah... I am your customer, cant you be nice?
42K RR man: I hate you, I hate yous all. Get out of my million dollar RR you worthless piece of crap, I cant believe I have to spend time with people as unimportant as you. My range rover is worth a billion dollars"
inspiring stuff indeed.
I dont believe I have ever been in such rage with a potential customer (referring to ebay offer responses) as to call them derogatory names, I really cant stand this guys attitude of 'you are not worth my time'. How someone like this can see any amount of success in his claimed field of work is beyond me.

But it is now time to acknowledge this legal genius. The aussiespeedingfines.com website is owned and operated by a man called Mike Palmer, who operates out of his home at 388 Beach Road, Beaumaris Victoria (Tel/Fax: 03 9589 1639). Palmer now has his house up for sale - perhaps he feels it is time to do a runner?* Mike Palmer is a motivational speaker (a.k.a. an over-priced spruiker). His online profile suggests he is a student and follower of Tony Robbins, the American motivational speaker who started out selling his own seminars and who utilises firewalking and hypnotism in personal power building seminars. Mike spent some time studying to be a hypnotist, which he probably found more useful than wasting any time studying law. He also operates tours around Melbourne (although I can't find any sign of his registration as a travel agent under the Travel Agents Act). It seems Mike's powers of persuasion are an integral part of his business. Mike was planning to run a speeding fine forum on 3 September 2007 through Bayside City Council's Bayside Business Network Seminar Series. A couple of weeks before it ran, the Council canned it because of concerns that his business is unethical.

Any news of our friend and the world's most expensive old Range Rover?
I watch with interest as I am about to list mine. It should be worth a pretty penny as they haven't made this model for 23 years. It too has an extensive list of modifications and additions including towbar, chrome ball, bullbar, driving lights, cup holders and custom ashtray.
I have spent a considerable amount on it including rego, insurance, servicing and fuel so I cannot possibly let it go for less than $21,250. Sure anyone could buy a similar vehicle for $800 and get the same result by neglecting it like I have mine, but I have to recover some of what I have spent.
And if anyone wants to buy my dot com shares for what I paid for them......

asked him if was engineered. This is what he said
[QUOTE]
No, that's why it is being sold for under $40,000 and not in excess of $60,000 - $70,000!
It is up to you to get it engineered, if you want to, and a RWC.
Please note that everything has been built to the highest standards - including things like additional cross bracing, bigger brakes and the like. It was all built by a professional mechanic who had his own similar vehicle engineered but we just didn't see any need to and we have driven it around in it's current form for a number of years now without a single issue.
Thanks.

More of Mike Palmer's legal nonsense:
In essence, no "Road Rules" publiction in ANY state has been lawfully enacted. No state government can lawfully enact them because they contravene our funadental Constitutional rights (Section 92 of the Commonwealth Constituion) to travel freely on our roads. Certian, fines, such as red light camera fines, also have fundamental flaws - like speed cameras - in respect to proving the authenticity of the photographs produced by these devices (see the section in the e-book relating to the flawed MD5 algorithm).
All the road rules are just that - rules. They are NOT Acts or Laws. You must remember that these rules were only ever put in place to help create an even flow of traffic. It makes sense to have Stop signs and Give Way signs that INDICATE what people SHOULD do, but you cannot punish them for not doing it unless they actually cause an accident.
In essence, our roads were created in fee simple and we cannot be charged to use them, or park on them. Chapter 9 of the e-book goes into much greater detail as to why parking tickets are illegal (including explaining why local governments have no lawful power).

IT'S HIM
Just using a different tactic of trying to make us pay. :p
The car this tosser is selling is basically built up to do what a 2004 V8 manual D2a with ACE can do (NAS so it has a 4.6). His price is more realistic this time, but even still only a total moron would pay that for it IMO, i'd rather buy a D2a, fit some simex's and a bit of lift, be more comfortable and better to drive than a clapped out old Rangie, and just as capable in the rough.
He says his car is one off, but he's just built a Rangie into a D2a haha, idiot, i bet Les Richmond was laughing every time the nong walked in the door, reminds me of this video - fab shop - YouTube ******

i can believe that it is possible for a supercharged 6.3L chev to produce 500hp (not necessarily yours, but it is possible), what i do not believe is that a 4.6 rover v8 with a M112 can make 500hp, that is 373kw, no f-ing way! and to top it off, only 135kw AT ALL FOUR WHEELS!!, so he is losing 240-odd kw through the drivetrain, as if!

It must've been a good night, I can feel your pain from here. He actually does explain in the vid that his snorkel is dual purpose. The flexy hose is "quick release" attached to the snorkel when off roading, and clipped onto a custom port in the radiator support panel to serve as a cold air intake for more hp on road. It's just out of view in your thumbnail, but pretty obvious in the vid particularly given his voice-over explaining just that. Don't feel too bad, Tequila will do that to the best of us. Cheers, Bush Ranger.
P.S. I'm still wetting myself over that "trolls" comment, thanks.

We need to copy the advert this time. You can watch the video on YouTube.
This is the Toughest, Most Capable Range Rover around!
Winter is here and whether you want something to play in the snow or outdo all your mates in the mud then this is the Beast for you - and, I just paid the rego last week so it comes with 12 months rego as well. All you need to do is hand over some cash, turn the key and go WILD and ENJOY!!!
I can't possibly detail EVERY modification that has been done to this amzing vehicle but I'll list a few to whet your appetite – there is a more complete list below:
A late model 4.6 HSE motor was fully upgraded and fitted a number of years ago
Once the 36 inch Simex Centipede tyres were added it needed more power
An Eaton M112 supercharger was fitted and the engine now produces around 500HP!
A late model Nissan Patrol manual gearbox was fitted to handle the power
Macnamara lockable diffs have been fitted and the transfer case has also been upgraded and re-built
Long range tanks have been fitted and it now carries 220 litres with a jerry can on the back.
The key that distinguishes this vehicle from EVERY other 4WD out there is the custom made ACTIVE suspension system - basically, you can throw this car around on the road like a sports car but then get full wheel travel off road. You could have $1 million cash in your hand today and you could NOT buy this system! There are only 2 known G-Force active suspension systems in operation and the other is in the Rangie that belongs to the mechanic who built mine.
To see what this all means to YOU, please click the following link and see the car in action as well as a detailed description of all the modifications that have been done:
Heavily Modified Range Rover - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mvV0SBKcEKM)
Here is a more detailed list of what this car currently has:
A 4.6 HSE motor was originally fitted about 8 years ago and this was fully rebuilt and fitted with forged pistons, new HiLift camshafts, balanced crank etc. about 5 years ago. The vehicle has done less than 15,000 k's since the rebuild.
An Eaton M112 Supercharger with water/methanol injection run by separate Uni chip to keep it cool was fitted to replace the inefficient Eaton M90 that was previously used.
A custom designed and built plennum spacer has also been fitted to maximize cooling and efficient distribution of air to all cylinders.
The supercharger has a custom designed and manufactured hardened steel gilmer drive/pulley system for positive traction at all times. The bearings were changed just last year.
A Motec engine management system now controls the engine.
A quick release snorkel with custom designed and manufactured air cleaner housing has been fitted and can quickly be swapped between direct cold air intake for on road performance and filtered snorkel for off-road.
I have receipts for well over $30,000 on the engine alone. It has been dyno tested with over 135Kw at ALL 4 wheels with 36 inch tyres on – this equates to over 500 HP at the engine! It also produces almost 1000 Nm of torque! I have included a copy of the dyno report in the picture gallery that verifies these figures.
It also has an on-board air compressor for pumping up air mattresses, tyres etc. The cross members under the engine has been sealed and can be used as a holding tank – this air compressor has as much power as your local servo one and comes with a click in hose and attachments to reach all 5 wheels.
The unique G-Force system that you can see operating in the video above was completely overhauled just last year with brand new seals and shaft and works perfectly.
The suspension also runs Bilstein shocks all round with one at each front corner and 2 at each rear corner for a perfect ride both on and off road.
You seriously cannot get a full understanding of the MASSIVE difference the G-Force active suspension system makes to the vehicle until you drive it. Sure, the video gives you an idea but when you drive the vehicle you will understand why I still believe that it was single best modification I ever did – despite the MANY that you can see have been made.
An upgraded radiator and new fan have been fitted to the vehicle.
It has a 4½ inch body/chassis lift and this included lengthening brake lines, seat belt mount, radiator mounts etc.
A late model 5 speed GQ Nissan Patrol gearbox has been fitted to handle the power and it has a really low 1st gear for crawling down steep, muddy slopes.
The transfer case has been rebuilt and hardened and the front and rear diffs have been replaced with MacNamara diff locks and, as is noted below, even the axle stubs have been cryogenically frozen so that there are virtually NO weak spots in the entire vehicle.
In fact, the only thing you should ever have problems with is Uni joints – which are fairly cheap and really don't need changing all that often anyway.
There are 2 long range tanks fitted which have again been custom designed and manufactured to take advantage of the 4½ inch body lift. There are a total of 5 upgraded fuel pumps to get the fuel efficiently from all the tanks to the engine.
Additional cross bracing has also been added to the chassis for extra strength.
I run 33 x 12.5 x 15 inch Serengetti All Terrain tyres on-road and it also has a set of 5 off-set wheels with internal bead locks and 36 x 12.5 x 15 inch Simex Centipede off-road tyres – that you can see in action in that video above. The off-road tyres are HUGE - equivalent to a 315/85/15 - and will get you through or over pretty much anything you dare to tackle. Note, these are 36 inch tyres and NOT 35 inch - and, as any woman will tell you, EVERY inch counts!
Again, a custom designed and manufactured wheel carrier, with a dual hinge - to hold the weight of the large tyres - has been fitted along with a modified jerry can holder with gas strut.
The vehicle has massive tow hooks at each corner to pull out all the muppets whose ego was clearly bigger than their 4WD - you will be amazed at how often you get called upon to pull people out when you drive around the bush in this beast!
It has a set of good old Cibie Super Oscar spotlights that still work really well and light up the night road perfectly so, if you're brave enough to try some extreme off-roading at night, this truck caters for that too.
Internally, the head lining that always tends to drop on Rangies has been replaced and a strong, custom designed and manufactured half roll cage has also been fitted.
It also has a set of custom designed and manufactured roll out drawers that have heaps of room to stow all your recovery gear as well as other camping and off-road bits and pieces and it will keep them all safely tucked away when you put this beast through it paces during any extreme off-road adventures.
It also has a 6 stack CD player with Panasonic stereo system as well as a DVD player with runs the sound through the stereo. There is also a CB fitted along with a 9db phone aerial and cradle system.
Finishing touches are the 2 way electric sunroof, wooden sports steering wheel and gear knob.
I’m sure I’ve still missed a heap of mods but I have around $115,000 worth of receipts that you are welcome to have a look through if you’re interested.
This Rangie is virtually indestructible. No expense has been spared and I have done everything you can think of, right down to cryogenically freezing the axle stubs, to make it the toughest, “go anywhere” 4WD I can. If you want the ULTIMATE 4WD that will turn heads wherever you go and give you years of off-road fun then this is the truck for you.
This car is a one-off and has cost well in excess of 3 times the very reasonable asking price. But please, if this car is not for you or you do not appreciate the work that has gone into it then that is fine but please don't waste my time or yours putting in any ridiculous offers, it is not going to benefit either of us.
If you are genuinely interested in owing a truly unique off-road vehicle that has capabilities that will almost certainly eceed your desire to "push it further", then feel free to call Mike on 0418 106 522 for further details or if you have any questions.
Please note that, at the full asking price the car comes with BOTH the current 33 inch Serengetti All Terrain tyres for on-road as well as 5, off-set wheels fitted with 36 inch Symex Centipede off-road tyres with internal bead locks – these wheels, tyres and bead locks alone are worth around $3,000 but I’m happy to negotiate a price if you only want one set of wheels and tyres.
So, thank you for taking an interest in my "little toy" and for taking the time to read through this ad and watch the video and I look forward to speaking to the lucky future owner soon.

With the right modifications & $$$$ 500hp is easily possible out of a 4.6. Why is everyone so negative? He's spent a lot of money on that Rangie. A fully locked Rangie will run rings around Disco's traction control. He might be able to get 12-15K for it, not too much more I wouldn't think.

so many mocking opportunities............
it has HiLift camshafts! more than one!
five (5) fuel pumps! yep thats right
the supercharger has its own Unichip to control water/methanol injection (i know for a fact a Motec can handle that)
maybe he is just uneducated, if i spent $30k on an engine, i would damn sure want it to produce a ton of power, so maybe the workshop just provided him with inflated power figures
for trying to sell this for such a ridiculous price, he should be cryogenically frozen like his axle stubs!

I think the negativity is him being a bit of a ****** about it.
And of course a locked rangie could out do a stock disco.
Put lockers, tougher axles, etc on pretty much any 4WD and its ability is considerably increased.

I agree it would be hard to make 500hp with a 4.6 but with high boost and good fuel you could achieve this. With the power loss on the dyno you can loose alot with the auto because of slippage, large tyres and transfer case I reckon he probably had a typo in his ad with results at the wheels. The guys I've seen who want good dyno results in there 4wd's like to run manuals and small tyres not sure on % loss but its alot with auto's compared to manuals.

It appears he's a wa!!!! from his ad and probably has no idea but really he is trying to sell his rangie to another person out there who hasn't any idea either.
He has probably spent all that money on the car especially if your paying a mechanic $80-100 per hour. Like in previous threads it might be worth around 15K or less but at least he has had a go not like all the couch experts out there.

The thing is he hasn't had a go, like the youtube clip i posted before, he is a ******, with supposedly a lot of money (i bet my left nut everything he 'owns' is financed) and he pays others to build him this 'fantastic' car, that he has no idea about and goes round bragging about it.
Credit to Les Richmond Automotive who supposedly built it, not sure though i thought all their stuff was supposed to be engineered.
He's a tosser, looks like he trolls everyone else, so needs some **** thrown back at him i reckon :p
Nothing on that Range Rover is particularly special, if it is running anywhere near 500hp he's not going to be running a Rover driveline, unless he uses axles like toothpicks. The 'super dooper one of a kind handleing system' is just a basic form of ACE, which has been around on stock cars since 1999, i bet the thing handles nowhere near the capability of a stock D2, sure might run rings around a D2 offroad, but he's got a lot of money in it, put half that in a D2 and it will show that old Rangie up, and yes i love old Rangies, just tellin it like it is.

The problem with this, like a lot of cars for sale for stupid amounts
It is not what you have spent on it that determines the value, but a car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

His fiqures don't add up exactly but I reckon all you disco and rangie owners are jealous cause you can't make that power if you wanted to it would cost $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$.
I agree, not everyone can afford a vehicle with similar power to weight ratios... e.g. a hyundai getz!

I remember watching a 4wd action DVD of this bloke. He sure does blow his own trumpet a lot; my wife called him 'toss winkle the pirate'.
Freezing steel for improved wear is well known in the racing industry, Heat Treating : anvilfire.com (http://www.anvilfire.com/FAQ-article.php?bodyName=/FAQs/heattreating.htm&titleName=Heat%20Treating%20:%20anvilfire.com). But, it's a complicated process, and I reckon there'd be a lot cheaper way to achieve greater strength. Having custom made stubs out of chromoly wouldn't be to difficult. I'd also like to know what he's done to the cv's, as they're the known weak spot.
Suspension (http://www.beninca.com.au/suspension.htm) is the link to the G-Force system - admitantly it's pretty good. He's got one of the earlier models that has no ecu. There's a hydraulic valve block that controlls all the stuff on his. Though to be honest - i'd be buying a rolled D2, and swapping the ACE system over - I know there's room cause i've measured it all up:D.
Personally I see a vehicle like this at quite limiting. There's no way i'd be putting my family in that to go to Queensland - the c.o.g would be so high, yes the G Force system is good, but it can't change the laws of physics.
It would have a good comp rig though.

Spot on Lucas ,no way does a 135 Kw at one axle equate to 500 HP. (*Neither does 135Kw at both axles either")He would need to run almost 14lbs of boost to get anywhere near it , and 14lbs of boost will equal 1 4.6 split into 2 2.3 blocks !!!The torque reading is Tractive effort, Not true Torque ,it wouldnt go 700Nm.His dyno sheet isnt worth the paper its written on !Id bet the engine is rattled !!

the one to my original question was very tame...
Sorry, yopur message doesn't seem to make a lot fo sense. To clarify, a purchaser from WA made an unconditional offer of $23,000 last month, which I accepted, however, he is now trying to back out of paying for the vehicle. I have been instructed, by my lawyers, to re-list the vehicle and to sell it for as close to $23,000 as possible to "mitigate" any loss suffered.
I'm not sure what your $2,000 refers to but another purchaser has contacted me and, as I understand it, he only wants the 33 inch wheels and tyres and wanst to negotiate the price down accordingly. So, If he ends up buying it and you want to buy the large, 36 inch wheels and tyres - which include internal bead locks - I would consider $2,500 for those on their own but not $2,000.
Thanks,

In any event, I am haeading off overseas tomorrow and the car is all but sold and will not be relisted when the ad ends.
So I replied that I hoped that since my comments could not be understood by such a learned person that I would not be subjected to similar legal action for the pain and suffering I may have caused but he should be aware of a similar class action underway on behalf of the entire internet community for similar.

see how they have engineers?
Unless something's changed or someones done the shonk under Les's nose (in which case "shonky + dodgy are entirely accurate adjectives to apply to the vehicle regardless of how well it had been modded) if Les's mob had done the mods it would have been engineered and approved Then nitwit splat Mike might have been able to get, maybe $20k for it
as is its a collection of parts that wont fit onto most vehicle transporters, cant be registered, cant be insured and therefore shouldnt be driven so is worth maybe 50% of the sum of all the component parts.

The first RRC we got with AC was the four door vogue (I think these were badged Highline in Aus) in 1985. So that's all the 2 doors and the four doors to about 1984 which never had AC. I'm sure some are floating around with aftermarket AC but I've never personally seen one.
My 85 (BA chassis) was one of the first Vogues and has AC integrated into the dash as factory fit.
Then it's the (poverty pack) UK imports. Pretty much none of the UK imported classics have AC or leather seats or tinted windows or anything that cost extra. I wrecked an 88 UK import years ago which was the same spec as that one. Manual, cloth seats and no AC. A mate here has (among others) a UK import like that one, but he paid about 10% of that asking price.
Some of the UK imports are shockers for rust. Salted roads gets up between the alloy panels and steel footwells. But others were imported early in life and stayed relatively corrosion free.
Some people here even remove AC from vehicles. Bugger that. But I live in the part of NZ that gets the hottest (and coldest) temps.

Reading this I was thinking as a pom I would not touch one from the uk as it would be full of rust and there would be a lot better examples here than that.

I have a very original and straight 1983 Rangie with factory air:cool:

Mine, too. It's the Hiline or Vogue or whatever high spec but without any badges.

A light-ish metallic blue. 727 auto as well. It must have been fantastic when new . . . but now I own it!

AF then?
My 85 is a BA. This is the first one (I think) with both rear shocks leaning forwards.

If a moderator would merge or link this to previous threads on same RRC.

I saw this on carsales too.
I would think you would need 220L fuel capacity to keep it running :o
Wild car though - whoever buys it will have a blast

He's been trying to sell it for a couple of years. No exaggeration, a couple of years!!!
I believe it started out at around $40k originally.
A couple of members here have had cracks at him over the sell price on his youtube video linked in his ad, with good reason too.

The thread is still there in the RRC section, maybe we can have them merged? :)
And yeah. To say he's "A bit of a wally" would win you understatement of the year award :)

Post a link to it. I have been here for years and have never come across it. The suspension did not look to work that great in the vid. And if it did the arches would be goooooone

The GRRRR-8 rego plate is now on a dark blue L322 V8 Rangie, saw it tonight in Mordialloc so I guess it's him. Bling rimz and a straight through exhaust, heard it coming a mile off....

I think the suspension unit was good for the time, Mitsubishi copied it for their Dakar cars only a few years ago, so it's pretty sound. But am itching now to get a totalled D2 and put the ACE system in my HSE.

I sent him a message offering $42.50 (from the original $42,500-). Got a message back in Nov as follows;
In any event, I am haeading off overseas tomorrow and the car is all but sold and will not be relisted when the ad ends.
So I sent another message when it was relisted, this time offering $25-50 (from the $25,500) once again it was sold.
Got another message back with this listing that if I put in "another bogus offer" (hey it's listed as or best offer) I'd be added to the list of people he's suing for breach of contract (???) for non payment of a "legally binding contract". What, so I owe him $68- for two offers he didn't accept?
*** With the ACE system, there's new systems listed on that Land Rover clearance page going really cheap.
