3 amigos on 2003-2004 Discovery

I was wondering if a 2003/2004 DIIa is still vulnerable to the 3 amigos. From what i have read its seems to be the DII not the later 2003-2004 face list model?
Also, why doesnt someone make an after market sensors and other parts?

They are still vulnerable to it...and a shuttle valve repair helped my mates 03 facelift DII.

It can be a wheel sensor or ABS module, although my DII with 125k on it hasnt - touch wood - had a wheel sensor problem - to be on the safe side I use standard pads.

From what I understand the shuttle valve is not that expensive and is replaced within the ABS Modulator?

In theory...but they then sometimes have problems anyway. A modulator replacement is not unheard of. However you can get the Wabco modulator unit from the UK for about 1/3rd landed than getting from the Stealerships here...the last time I enquired the stealers wanted $4k+, and that wasnt fitted.

I have a 2003 TD5 and have had an issue with the three amigos, lucky for me I toke the car into the stealer who cleared the fault codes for approx $70.00 and havnt had an issue since that was about 7 months ago.

On mine, I think its more to do with the brake pads squeal. Does it mostly when cold, lightly touching the brakes when cold or bumps may cause cold pad to make contact with disc. Restarting reset the lights every time on my D2.
It has been mentioned that non-gen pads are the main cause.
Now Im not saying this is the case for all. But when you look at it this way, it may ring true for you too.;)

In my 99 D2 it was the front RHS ABS sensor. Replaced the hub and no further trouble. Interesting design that requires the replacement of the whole hub to replace just the ABS component!

Thats how it "originally" was, and Land Rover probably want to still sell you the whole hub assy, but you can now buy just the sensor on its own.:)
