Hi, New to the club and first time member of a blog. Have a 2002 Freelander that has been serviced by non-"authorised" LRA mechanics (probably for cost reasons) and coming up to 80, 000 service. Any recommendations on going back to LRA for this or subsequent services ?

I have a 2002 V6 and haven't found a need to go to a dealer as yet.
I'm using a LR specialist in Ferntree Gully (Vic) with no issues of note to date.
Service costs and acces to any parts etc has been fine.
The Freebie isn't the most welcome visitor as somebits are hard to work on, but it gets booked in and sorted.

Hi SuperM,
That sounds encouraging. Do you know which is the major Km service for the 02 V6, as I am guessing that 80k is around the mark that will cost a couple of grand.

This is from the manual, all of the manuals mention miles for this paragraph.
Main Service "B" is applicable at 24 months/ 24,000 miles, 48 months/ 48,000 miles, 72 months/ 72,000 miles, 96 months/ 96,000 miles and so on.
Some items do not need to be carried out at every main service and these items are identified by an indicator in the tick box e. g. 60k (This indicates that this item is only applicable every 60 months/ 60,000 miles)
So if yours has been serviced by the book 80K km is close enough to 50K miles and is the next major.
I can't recall specifically the cost but I recall it was well under $1K. Probably much more at a dealer.
