Saw this at Michaels on Wed.

They are marked down from $7,995 to $5,995:eek:

$7,995 could buy a few Nikon D700 SLRs, what commands the price on the Leica? (Even considering the prices of Lumixs using Leica optics.:o)

They are the rolls royce of camera's, you are paying for build quality and heritage - but still way overpriced IMHO.

Leica build quality is exceptional. They make the Japanese cameras look plastic. The M8's usually available for tad under US$5000. Price the lenses though:eek:

Their digital camera technology comes via Panasonic and isn't necessarily the best. You'll have noticed that Panasonic cameras tend to use Leica lenses.

As for the D700, on hold as I have to accessorise my new Defender, but in the budget for next year. Price should have dropped again by then too:)

Even so, the Panasonic range that uses Leica optics have the least barrel distortion, bluriness, dark corners etc than the other Japanese equivalents I've seen.

Would you be sourcing a D700 O/S?

Unless Nikon Australia comes good on a rumoured pricing parity with O/S ... let me think... save a grand... yep!

I'd probably buy online unless we had a trip planned.
