Hi all thought ill show you a few pics of the 1954 86" that i just bought of a mate on Russel island. It has all 2A running gear witch is the main reason for buying it. The chassis isnt the best nor the fire wall. Time to start the strip down. Does any one know where i can get the hardtop welded in SE QLD? as there are 2 cracks above the drivers, I think there from fatuge?

Looks nice. Panels are all pretty straight.

Beaut little Landies the 86s.

I notice that it has fully floating rear axle. Is it running series 2 assemblies or does it have the correct series 1 width units (often using S2 halfshafts with spacers)?

Re the welding, you need to find someone who can TIG weld. Try to get him to reinforce the area as they all have a habit of cracking at that point.

Hi Diana it has the 2A diffs drum to drum, the series 1 diffs are long gone. But i dont mind as it will be a daliy driver so that way it should be easier to sorce parts.

Heres the Anti-Crist being driven around Jims yard, we were trying to free off the clutch. The miss in the engine was caused by a broken spark plug, put a newen in and now runs better then the 2.25 in my 2A GS lol. YouTube - Land Rover series 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vRwVuKg4aU)

I presume you are aware that when new it probably had 6.00x16, possibly as big as 7.00x16, but very unlikely to have been 7.50. It does make a difference to performance, especially with the less powerful Series 1, and the lwb wheels intended for the 7.50 are wider. I wonder if you have lwb or swb wheels? The swb wheels are not really wide enough for 7.50.
