I have been using one of these units now for the past 8yrs for aviation navigation and for 4x4ing in South Africa

I have recently moved to Brisbane and am a little lost without any POI's for reference, the only features used now are for headings, speed, dist and the compass.

I have added a few custom waypoints but am in need of POI's specific to Australia, like major cities, medium cities, airfields, beacons, and others to down load onto my system

I believe Datasend is the software to be looking for but as my system is so outdated I am finding it difficult - there is aslo some data translators out there that changes later GPS model's data into a format the 315 can read

I know this GPS may be old but it's been a very trustworthy tool and I would hate to have to turf it if all it needs is a updated download

So if there are any old fogies like me out there that have some free POI downloads or shareware for my faithful Magellan GPS 315 your help will be most apretiated

Get a copy of http://www.oziexplorer.com (http://www.oziexplorer.com/) and a data cable if you don't have one from http://www.gpsoz.com.au (http://www.gpsoz.com.au/). You can then create waypoints to suit and download them to your 315. You don't need Datasend. You may well need a USB to serial adaptor as new PCs are unlikely to have a serial port. Any computer shop will sell those. As for waypoints, have a web search in the first instance for a few.

Also consider how inexpensive new kit is. Autorouters are available for $150 these days and they'd have the ability to route you anywhere in Australia by road.
