Can we have a second opinion on that?

No.

The apostrophe is correct in the normal use of "it's" in that sentence. However, Sleepy made a concerted effort to put errors into the text. Therefore, to be consistent, Sleepy should have left out the apostrophe.

Hence the admonition.

Simple, really! :p

Bugger, we got to apostrophes a day early! :D

I'll have to move on to spaces after a comma or full stop, not before. :D

Ron

Is that spaces after a full stop or two spaces after a full stop and only one space after a Commer.

Diana :D :D :D

P.S. Maybe I would rather have two spaces between me and a Commer, particularly a Commer "Knocker" lest they bump into my car.

P.P.S. Yes I Know it's comma, however I had to obey Murphry's Law.

Muphry's actually. See Threepenny Planet: Muphry's Law (http://home.pacific.net.au/~bangsund/muphry.htm)

Diana, the number of spaces has been the subject of discussion elsewhere. :) I still subscribe to two spaces after a full stop but this forum software removes extraneous spaces (as does other forum software).

I think it's (oops!) better too Ron, but when we worked with a publisher for the book in the late 90s that was one thing they said had gone. It is now typographically correct to have one space after a full stop.

Yes, it changed in the late Eighties in a couple of style books I read at the time (including, I think, the Aust. Govt. style book).

Used to be called 'The Book of Style' with the condensed version being 'The Little Book of Style'!

Now it is called 'The Style Manual' (I think - it is at work and I am at home).

Why change something that works?

That was one I was learned 'bout befour, by Ron!

In everything else Murphy's Law, in anything to do with the published word Murphry.

Diana

P.S. I don't care for some of these modern styles! I'll continue to use Oxford English and not Macquarie, with two spaces after the stop even if the software edits it out later. If that makes me anachronistic, it's O.K. They fit me up for the Zimmer frame next week.

I well remember the Commer "Knockers" full revs echoing through the hills around Dunsborough/Margaret River areas in the dark hours of the morning in the late 50's, probably about 6-8tonners hauling spuds I believe.
An unbelievable sound and one I won't forget.
