Sals Diff Pinion height?

I will be replacing my crown wheel and pinion after some issues were discovered on the weekend. After reading up on setting it all up I am stuck on one thing. How to you set the pinion height without the setting guage which is supposed to be a LR part. Has anyone done this at home in their back yard that can shed some light on this please.

you make one... I think Ive got the specs for it on paper somewhere and it might even be in the RAVE...

I could have a dig around for my block if you like...

you can try to guess and giggle it by doing it till the preload is right and then going a tooth contact check but you'll be pulling the center out heaps untill you get it right that way.
