Gday
Can someone please tell me which models came which options?
Were central dif locks standard on some models?
Are they worthwhile?
And what about SLS? Good or bad
I have been lusting after a landy for some time now and the time has come to put my money where my mouth is. I am planning to purchase a td5 D2 in the near future and would be interested on member’s thoughts as to which options are worthwhile additions to a D2?
Any input or advice based on experience would be appreciated

G'day Discotec,

A locking centre diff is a definite bonus if you are intending to use your discovery off road. In fast personally think it's essential.

The early DII( (99, 2000 and some 2001) had the mechanism in the transfer case but not way of activating the lock from inside the vehicle. Some boffin in L/R decided Traction control alone would do!! With ethe introduction of teh 2A in late 2002 they brought factory diff locks back.

Do a search for CDL and you will find heaps of info.

Like this: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/good-oil/39956-cdl-d2s.html

If you have an early DII...with CDL in the transfer case there are a variety of after market options to activate it.

As far as other options, it probably depends how you intend to use it. many swear by ACE ( active cornering enhancement) others hate it. some love SLS some hate it... really comes down to how you intend to use the vehicle.

Cheers. Mark

The later D2s came with centre diff-locks and yes they are worthwhile.

Try and get one with a good service history......:BigThumb:
