Silverstone MT117 280/85-16 are about the right size and quite cheap.

Antique tyres stock a few bar tread tyres in that size, there are actually a number of manafacturers that make tyres in that size still, try the tyres4u website and search for that size.

There is a whole thread on 9.00 tyres in the forward control section.

About 6 months ago when I was looking for tyres my local tyre service could get MRF Bar treads for about $220 (imported by Moree Ag Tyres) MRF also have another tyre "Sandgrip" for a similar price - Garrycol has them on his 101 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/fcs-military-variations/50234-9-00-16-tyres-6.html#post773919

In relation to Alliance Traction Lug - I had a quote from Chalmer's Tyre Service in Sydney at the same time with a price of $380 each. (Phoenix may be correct, I did contact Tyres4U and they may have been the ones who sent me to Chalmer's).

I recently imported some Superlug tyres made by "Specialty Tires of America" ( who also make loader and grader tyres) the tyres are 8 ply and 3030 lbs single load rating. The main reason was that I wasn't happy with the grip of bar treads. They came from Universal Tires in Philadelphia US and landed at my door via FedEx at just under $300 each - you would be looking at over $300 each now with the movement of the exchange rate. Buy in lots of 2 or three to keep the invoice price below $1,000 each batch and save paperwork and GST hassels.

(In fact I'll be buying a couple more in the next few weeks because I had to throw out some Alliance Traction Lugs which were bald.)

There is a summary post with pics on the following link.
