200/300 TDI chassis code.

I've got a mate looking for a diesel disco. What year and chassis code did they progress from the 200 to 300tdi?

We can get chassis codes (sometimes engine numbers too) from registration numbers as many classified ads don't show underbonnet photos.
What should I be looking for?

up to LA was 200Tdi, MA was 300Tdi. F7 is Diesel and 5 speed manual, F3 is Diesel auto.

Also, 300 series had large headlights and 200 series had small. Quickest way to tell!!
