Ok, as my last post was deleted due to the server crash, i'm reposting at everyones request.

Today i get a message on ebay from a guy who just put a bid on the Stage 1 that was on Ebay.

The message was along the lines of " I just bid on your landrover and i would like to retract the bid as i'm new to ebay and i cant buy it without seeing it 1st"

The idiot sent me a message 2 days ago wanting to know if i would hold it for him until he came down on the 11th sept.

What is it with people??? Do they not read the conditions of the Auction when they sign up???

Anyway i told him, he had better pray that someone out bids him...

The outcome????
He was out bid and the bloke who bought it is coming over tommorow and picking it up.

So its going to a good home.... I hope..... i'm sad.... i really wanted to keep it... but a 2 seater pig is not what i need... and i need to finish the county....

Been there done that - listed a car recently and the bidder said her husband said no - she won and there is in reality that you can do - I reported the person to e-bay and went through the process - result they get no negatiove feedback - nothing just an internal ebay black mark and I have the right to not accept bids from them in the future - big deal.

E-bay sucks

Seriously, apart from "markets" on this and similar sites, and the commercial listers (carsales, carpoint & trading post), is there an oz auction alternative to e-bay ??

Hey don't get me wrong but it's a two way street in inet auctions. A mate of mine desperately wanted a new outboard motor that he was bidding on on flea bay. He genuinely won it, then came the time to pay for it the seller tells him " oh i don't have it anymore my wife sold it already " what a knob. anyway ended up getting anither one but at a lot greater cost.

You get jerked around everywhere, no matter what method you use to sell something. So far two people have pulled out of the purchase of my 4BD1 engine after agreeing a price, following lots of emails, phone calls and so on.

The most pathetic one said "My wife won't let me buy it". Even if it's true, why would you admit that? Surely it would be less humiliating to say you've taken up knitting instead, or have just been arrested for exposing yourself in public and will have to use the money to pay for a lawyer.

It also happens when you're trying to buy something. Last year I agreed to buy a Land Rover, got the cash and had a mate lined up to drive about 4 hours to get it. I called the bloke just before I left home and he said he'd forgotten that a guy from Sydney was interested and felt morally obliged to call him first. I never heard from him again.

I had a problem with a seller a while back.

I bought a trailer from a bloke up near my Dads place and the miniute I won I msg'd that I would have it picked up within 2 or 3 days and how would he prefer to be payed.

He said that cash would be fine but he was leaving for work away from home for several weeks and it could be picked up after that which was fine for me and so I organised him to call my old man to organise it instead of being the third party myself.

About a week later we recieved negative feedback as a non payer so I rang him and he told me that he hadnt heard from my old man and he was back from work and wanted it picked up.

I explained that he was meant to call my dad and he then said oh yeah I remember now and so removed the negative feed back.

I organised to have it picked up a day or 2 later and he again wasnt home so my dad rang him each time he went up there for the next week or so until they could meet up.

It was one of the most frustrating things Ive had to go through, but all is well in the end.

Would that be one of those small freezer sized bar-fridges ?
