Has anyone done the above conversion? Is there an Adaptor plate/bellhousing that can be bought to do the job? has anyone modified the bellousing (LT77S) to mate up to the 2.25 diesel/Petrol?
Any advice appreciated, Regards Frank.

Frank,
Wasn't this the gearbox fitted to the 2.5 four cylinder engine (not sold in Australia)? If I am right, the easiest and cheapest would probably be to source a second hand bell housing from the UK. This would be a lot cheaper to ship than a whole gearbox, and would probably be fairly cheap to buy.

John, thanks for that mate, this LT77 is out of a V8 Disco and has an extraordinarily long spigot/input shaft with bellhousing to match, the shaft measures 320mm from g/box front to end of shaft with the depth of the bellhousing approx. the same. Would you John or anyone else know if the 2.5D bellhousing/input shaft is the same length, thanks, Regards Frank.

Sorry, can't help on that one, but I'd be surprised if they were the same length.

Tank - you don't even need to get one from the UK, just get a bellhousing from a 200Tdi Defender (or even a whole box and sell yours).

The 200tdi defenders had the engine mounted right at the back of the engine bay - where you would want it in a series, and a short bellhousing as a result. The diesel boxes also had lower (1-3 and R) ratios than the V8, which would be handy.

I believe that the disco shifters/levers aren't really compatible with series/110s either.

So ideally you'd want the long-stick LT77 from say an early rangie and the bellhousing/input shaft to fit the 200tdi?

no, you want the LT77 complete with bellhousing and this will fit the series engine,

Dave are we to assume from your username that you and the website are one and the same?

If yes, thank you I have found your site yery informative, it's a pity that the cost of freight to Oz is so expensive.

Yes indeed. Dave/ashtrans = Dave Ashcroft. He has been contributing great tech to many forums for years now.

Good to see you on AULRO Dave.

Yes indeed Diana. Shame about the exchange rate between GBP and AUD as well.

Dave - slightly OT - any interest in making a 4BD1(T) to R380 adaptor? The Australian army will be selling off its fleet of 3000 odd perenties in the next few years, and I am sure there will be a few people who want to upgrade the LT95 to a 5 speed (makes a big difference on the highway).

Also, there are quite a few people still doing conversions (e.g. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/isuzu-landy-enthusiasts-section/55113-county-v8-4bd1turbo-conversion.html ), and genuine LT95/LT85 to isuzu bellhousings are getting very hard to some by.
