Hi All,

I'm wondering whether anyone has any knowledge of how Mailwasher Pro loads the default e-mail program when you click the "Process Mail" button.

As an e-mail client my wife uses Incredimail, which she loves but I HATE . A few days ago an automatic update came through for it, and since then, Mailwasher is unable to load Incredimail from the "Process Mail" button. It just brings up an explorer window, which I' m sure means that it can't read the path.

The problem lies with Incredimail, I am sure, but I can get no sense at all from their e-mail support, who insist that the problem lies with Mailwasher

Can anyone tell me which registry entry(ies) Mailwasher Pro looks at to call the default e-mail program. (In the Mailwasher settings it is the "preconfigured e-mail client"). BTW, changing this setting to Outlook Express as a test makes Mailwasher work normally again!

I think the upgrade of Incredimail has changed something to do with this registry entry which Mailwasher looks at, and I would like to find it.

As a workaround I can set a path in Mailwasher manually (using the "specify a mail client command"), but I am naturally curious ;), and would like to work out what is going on!

Cheers,

Lionel

I. too, use Mailwasher Pro but I can't help.

Have you asked Firetrust?

Try here: Mailwasher Support (http://www.firetrust.com/en/support/mailwasher-pro/faq/setup-and-accounts#why-do-i-get-error)

In particular:

Why do I get an error when trying to start my email client? Or, how do I specify a default email client?

You may not have specified a default email client. To do this right click on the Internet Explorer short-cut on your desktop, select Properties to open the Internet Properties window, then select the Programs tab. Select your default email client in the Email field.
or
In Windows XP click Start > Set program Access and Defaults > click Custom and a drop down menu will appear > click the email program you want to use as your Windows default email program > click OK.
In Windows Vista click Start > Default Programs > Set your default programs > click the email program you want to use as your Windows default email program > click Set this program as default
To change which email program MailWasher Pro opens, from the MailWasher Pro menu select Tools > General Options and next to Launch email application after processing, click Specify. Use the drop down selection box to select which email program you want to have open, or alternatively, manually browse to the location of the program you want to have opened.

Very good program but they have dropped Mac support.

Thanks, but I have tried all this. Incredimail is definitely set as her default e-mail client, but the only way I can get Mailwasher to open it is by setting its path (C:\Program files\Incredimail\bin\IncMail.exe) in the "Specify a mail client command" box. This will work OK, but I'm buggered if I can work out why using the "Preconfigured e-mail client" option won't work!

Everything was fine until Incredimail's upgrade!

Cheers,

Lionel

Unfortunately I'm not running it anymore as I switch to Mac. Try shooting off an e-mail to Firetrust. I did this back in the early days of MailWasher and they were quick to respond. The other option is that IncrediMail has changed its file locations or binary (EXE) names. MailWasher stores everything in the HKCU.../Software/MailWasher key in the registry (from memory, if not its HKCU.../Software/Firetrust/Mailwasher)
