I came across this weblink on another website and I was so taken in by the photography and the story. Africa gets inside you and, after you have been, then time is then measured by when it is that you will get back.
So many people go for the Big 5 but, for me, they only take up a small part of what I find fascinating in the place. For me, it is the people, their culture, and the stunning scenery...interspersed by some bloody impressive animals.

Would have been one hell of an adventure. I'd still love to do some touring of that nature round oz (on the bikes that is), but I don't see that happening in the near future.

Awesome trip, having been overland from Kenya to Capetown in a leyland truck i can only imagine the freedom and hard work of travelling by bike. If i hadnt contracted malaria in Malawi i had planned to go to Namibia.

What a great read. That just filled in a big part of a Sunday morning. Very much worth a look. Great pics too.

Mate of mine is South African he has a few contacts over there so we are planning a trip sometime in the most likely distant future.
Thinking we may get a Defender each when we got over there and just go round and round and round until we run out of money :D

I started reading the Angola report about 4 weeks ago. Was absolutely blown away so read the other trip reports after work each night. Finished them about a week ago. Well this last week has been hell. I think I had withdrawls :D
Very wet weekend here in mid north NSW so I looked up the 'wilddogs' that they keep refering to. Found a whole wonderful website dedicated to people just like Metal Jockey who are riding Africa.
Here's a link to their 'best of' trip reports:
'Roll of Honour' - Best Ride Reports (http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?board=32.0)
Nardus, Hennie, & Michnus have all got ride reports up there too. I haven't even finished the first one yet but thought I'd share for others that also have this weather.
I've been saving to do a trip round Aus in a LR but after reading these I think Africa is calling!
