Brilliant. Loved that it was slightly sped up - worthy of a silent comedy film.

A few questions.

1) Front RH wheel not turning - no 4wd?
2) or front hubs unlocked?
3) no centre diff?
4) no diff lockers?
5) what would you have done?

Glad he went & put a hat on.

Thats a classic!

Another method would be to adjust the RH rear brake up to almost locked, and it'll climb straight out.(Only if drum brakes were used of course, otherwise wedging the park brake cable on for that side would do the same if a disc rear end.)
I thought he was going to try all sorts of stuff, like wedging the tailgate under the wheel or something crazy like that.

:D:D

Those utes do have drum brakes.

I used that technique back in 1970 to get our Vauxhall Viva unbogged on a sand track in Ceduna.

It would have been interesting to see his next move if traction was achieved while jumping on the back or bouncing it !!!!

That is an absolute crack up! I was soooo expecting the ute to finally get traction and go flying off screening with him running after it Gods Must be Crazy style!! LMAO :lol2:

Good on him for having the foresight to set up a camera and to then take the p!ss out of himself!!

Pakistani Desert, lucky he wasn't shot by any marauding Terry taliban.

maybe reverse was worth a try, or deflating some of the tyres.

1: see 2-5
2: no
3: centre diff lock pretty much only ensures 1 front, 1 rear wheel are driven in poor traction areas
4: front and rear diff locks wouldve helped
5: either taken a better approach to the gully, or started clamping off brakelines, either way i wouldve had a better equipped vehicle

maybe reverse was worth a try, or deflating some of the tyres.he tried reverse....... several times!

deflating may have worked, but i dont think he wouldve been able to get enough traction by doing it

Assyemtric deflation is one technique would almost certainly have worked, especially in conjnction with some rock stacking. If the rear left tyre and front right tyre were deflated that would put the other two closer to the ground with better traction. A little-known effect of deflation is improved articulation.

Doesn't look like the Lsd works very well in the toyota.

Haha! That's what I was waiting for the whole time! Thought he was gonna run himself over when he was bouncing on the front :o

Hilarious, funniest thing I have seen in ages.

Thanks for posting it.

Funniest bit is he reminds me of some of the things I have seen other surveyors do over the years.

Truely it is a miracle some of them are alive.

He also certainly didn't go to the Len Bendell school of surveying...
