Is my autodim mirror stuffed? it is not in the car anymore so it has no power to it and its slightly darker than a normal mirror. There are 3 wires going in, what 2 need power so it can be tested?
I Thought that they went patchy when they were stuffed.

I'll look up RAVE when I get home.
They do fail by leaking but the manufacturer has been pretty good in replacing them for free even 12 years after manufacture.

I tried last week and the company has stopped making them as of Jan 2008.
I got them to admit it was a common failure but they said there was no recall and no refund. They have since updated the mirrors to solid state electronics rather than the liquid between the glass but looks like you have to purchase the new one. I will keep you updated on any progress.

bugger indeed! I think I might just replace it with one of the bluetooth hands free car kit mirrors that auto dims and displace the name and number of the person calling on the mirror...and use the mirror power for the handsfree kit

A Plain Jane D2 mirror uses the same mount if you don't want to go to the expense of replacing it with the correct mirror.

Installed the bluetooth handsfree mirror last night. I just cut the cig power adaptor and wired it into the auto dim mirror power. Took about 10 minutes...ther is no messy cables and car kit turns on when the ignition is on!
