G'day all,

I was fortunate enough to hit a roo and only recieve a damaged indicator/parking lense on my factory LR bull bar. The LR factory bar is fitted to a 11/03 build Defender, Enquiries made through TR spares and another stealer in Syd concluded that the Rinder brand combo light has been discontinued (P/N HYM1176). I thought the ARB bar was the same but turns out the lights arn't.

Has anyone else had this issue and located the part somewhere else? I would consider exchanging both combo lights for a single indicator.

Cheers Rob.

This is of interest to me, as I probably have the same type of bar on my Defender (purchased Aug 2004). Who makes the bullbar? Is that made by Rinder also?

I would have thought that LR Aust would have to supply replacement parts for 10 years, if it was part of the supplied specification of the vehicle. It would have had to pass ADRs etc., and is a roadworthy item.

I would be contacting LR Aust about this, not just a dealer.

Cheers,

Lionel

Post a pic of the part - it may be that supercheap (et al) sell similar sized replacements. I know that they sell a combo parking light/indicator light for a bullbar, but without a pic it's hard to tell if it will fit your bullbar

This is a long shot but if it is the bull bar that came with the extreme:

then the lights sold by Narva might be worth looking at for size:

Thanks guys, yes it is an extreme with a factory bar. I was told I collected the last lamp unit available, thats not to say LR wont be seeking the part through another manufacturer.

I went to my local auto elect who restores Leyland & Mini.... states, "Lucas lighting was the prince of darkness".

Pics to follow.

A quick measurement shows that this would not really fit. My bullbar has the LR emblem stamped on it, and was part of the car as delivered, so as far as I'm concerned, it is up to them to make replacement parts available. If the original suppliers are not able to help, then I am sure LR will have to find another.

Oh well it was worth a go.

I understand that the Extreme (and its bull bar) was put together for the Australian market and if I can adopt a jaundiced view LRA are probably not likely to be interested. I hope to be proven wrong. :)

sorry, thats probabley my fault, Ive probabley destroyed say 3/4's of the australian supply so I did some thing about it and made up mounts for LED lights and then put some armour on them.

I checked the dimentions of the narva lights, the LR one is larger being 180w, 60h, 52d.

I am happy to be corrected, but I think LR would have to provide spare parts for 10 years? I understood this was a regulation. If the bullbar IS part of the supplied spec., then that means they are required to provide spares for it, whether they are interested or not!!

It is surely similar to Magna Solaras, Falcon ST's, Commodore Vacationers etc.

Lionel

What brand is on the lens ?

The Tdi OE (ARB made) bullbars use a smaller, all amber indicator, 135mm x 40mm and appear to be made by ARIC in Italy. (pt. # 11671131, which appear to be VW Golf I indicators  )

<edit> earlier indicator is smaller as it's recessed into the bumper bar.

The 300Tdi engined Defenders are ARB Bullbars, The TD5 variants of the Bullbar are made by a company called "Able Engineering" The contract for them to make bars stopped in about 05.
I am not sure whether the part "Is no longer available" but not in stock i do know as a customer of ours needs a set. We have placed a couple of sets on Back order.

I understand that the manufacturer of the lights is Rinder, a Spanish Company with a division in India.

The web site is Corporacion Rinder (http://www.rinder.com/)

One could always go to the source...nothing like a bit of direct action to get things sorted rather than wading through layers of disinterested and disinclined middle people. (Could test one's Spanish though)

Or when all else fails....improvise.

I am not sure whether the part "Is no longer available" but not in stock It's NLA. Also, the bullbar is also NLA .

I can't say too much here but I'm waiting on answers from LR as these bars/lights were being fitted as late as 2006.

Thanks Scott,
I didnt see the NLA on the computer. Well we may be waiting a while then..:(
I did know the bar was NLA...but not the lights.

If it can no longer be obtained I may just put a set of amber LEDs in, there are already direction lights so I see no need to have a 2nd set on the bar.

Well, there are a lot of parts for my LR which are NLA and it only went out of production 6 years ago.

LR won't be interested.
