Just out of interest for anyone with an earlier TD5 Disco that has the water-in-filter warning light.
I recently replaced my filter with a Bearmach unit. The light warning of water in the filter would not extinguish. I presumed the contacts were fouled as i had removed the pick-up and washed it, so I cleaned it all with contact cleaner. Still no joy!
After a good soaking of the drive and me in diesel, I discovered that the filter "guts" are slightly longer internaly - probably not a problem on a disco without the switch - and they earth the end of the switch water sensor contacts! So it will not extinguish with this filter make! I put another brand on and it went out instantly
