G'Day All,
I have noticed a leak coming from the underside of my front diff where the prop shaft joins (yes I know all Disco's are supposed to leak oil but thankfully, mine has been good so far).

Anybody have any idea's as to the cause?
Cheers,
Franz

Diff pinion seal. Easy and cheap fix if it's just the seal. But if you have a groove worn in the drive flange, you'll need to find a replacement or have the grooved one sleeved. If you replace the seal and refit a stuffed flange, it will leak again and do it fast.

Thanks for the quick response - just looked it up in Rave and it seems to be quite straight forward.

Franz,
Make sure the breather isn't blocked, as this will cause the seal to leak.

If the flange is grooved but not too bad, it can be machined. I had this done on my RRC several years ago.

Graeme,
How do I check that? I have extended my breather line to bonnet level so am thinking that it should be OK but how would I check it?

Pull the tube out of the axle housing and blow/pump air through it, preferably from the axle end.
