Donaldson Filter Evacuator Valve Blanking

Do you guys running snorkels blank off the rubber evacuator valve on the bottom of the Donaldson's air cleaner housing?

It's the lowest point on the air inlet system on the factory Isuzu 110 set-up, and I'm thinking of blanking mine off as I don't mind cleaning dust out the filter housing more regularly.

It looks to me like water could easily get sucked past the evacuator valve if it was submerged. The rubber "lips" on the outside of the valve don't exactly seal tightly together (and this is on a brand new one I bought of the correct type for the Land Rover application).

You'll find that if it ever becomes sumerged that the addad pressure of the water will close the valve. It's also important to have the valve as, if water ever gets into the air intake (ie. raining) it can get out too.

Jon, if/when you fit a turbo, you need to turn the filter housing around and convert that pipe to the intake.

I drilled the spot welds on the old intake and brazed a plate over the hole. Rijidij has posted pics - he did something similar.

No big deal to block it off, as long as you remove it regularly to clean, and/or fit a cyclonic precleaner.

I had to blank off the evacuator hole so that I could move the filter housing to the right so that it could be plumbed into the turbo. 40,000 ks later no problems.
