Is there ( or can we set up) a system of sharing GPS tracks / files on AULRO.

It would be great if people do an interesting trip and posted their track files in say OziExplorer format (pretty common) so others (i.e. me) could download them and do the same trip !

Great Idea VledTepes!!! I'm really struggling to get decent maps over here in WA thats any better than 250k. You can buy some digital maps, but they were written in about 1802.

weeds: No not really. We all pretty much know WHERE good places are, just not specific tracks , routes etc.

TimNZ: Ah yes, the Terra Australis pack, and the Van Diemsn's Land pack

A while ago while wondering around on the interweb I found this place:

4x4 Earth Australia for 4WD Tracks (http://www.4x4earth.com.au/)

Is it sorta what you want?

Ask Inc about setting something up. As others have pointed out there are already several websites for this purpose.

Note; no maps to be shared unless they are free ones.

What about drop.io (http://drop.io/)? I think it should be perfect for that.

Then, to integrate it into AULRO just set up a sticky in the gps section and link to it. Thoughts?

I agree. Most common and widely used format for tracks and waypoints is GPX.

I will gladly add what I can legally upload!
