Hey All

I have been fiddling with my Nanocom today trying to work out the new valeo stuff and upgrading to the new firmware. I dont know what I have done/has happened but all the functions are now locked and for some reason the nanocom and the software doesnt recall what the product ID is!

I have emailed Mattia at nanocom, but though I would see if anyone has had this problem. Anyone know how to fix it?!

Nah, nothing works. Was working though...then it just stopped. I think it has something to do with the fact that it has lost the product ID somehow.

Hmmm... well actually I popped my head in for two reasons.

1. To empathise with you.
2. To subscribe to the thread (I know I can do it without posting) so that I could see where this heads so that I could ...
A) Learn more about it. I too have a nanocom and did a firmware update but didn't strike the problem you had so had no specific ability to help.
B ) possibly be able to help at some future junction.

But, the way you feel has been noted...

Wonder what would happen if you try to reinstall the firmware...

I dont own one but does the nanocom have a pin hole factory reset anywhere.
If it does i would be doing that and then trying to reinstall the firmware.

Can't see one. I'll have a read of the manual and see if there is something else to reset it. The only buttons visible are the 4 user interface ones on the front.

Hey Captain, dont take offense as I didnt mean to be rude. I was only making a joke. Sorry if I offended you...of course I would appreciated anything you could add and would want people to learn from it.

I visit the Nanocom site from time to time to see if the Puma is covered (Mattia initially indicated Sept 08).

Anyway I did notice something the other week about Firmware upgrade and the early Nanocom units needing a hardware upgrade. Could be the issue you are facing. Hopefully you'll get an e-mail back from them shortly.

For everyone info, this is what Mattia from nanocom advised -

Hi,

Could you please try to downgrade the unit to the 1.09p firmware and see if the ID appear again. If the ID is lost also with the 1.09p I will send you a ID restoring program. These first series of Nanocom had problem with the latest firmware thet you can easily solve.
You can have more information about the problem here.

Regards
Mattia

I will try this out and see if it fixes the problem...

For everyone info, the program Mattia sent me worked perfectly. Its handy to keep too just in case this happens again.

It appears it happened as I have the older Nancom with the 16mhz processor and that the problem will be avoided if you upgrade it to the 10mhz processor.

Hi,
From my second hand Nanocom suddenly disappeared ID (only ??????) but all 6 unlock codes are still visible. I can't read any fault and etc. Tool work only in instrument mode (and maybe trip master ?). Is it possible to use in that case ID restoring program (Nanocom soft. 2.05e)?
Can anyone send me the this program?
Regards
