We go in the van as long as Deb has a toilet to use, a porta loo is on the short list of things to get.

My wife Julie as well.

Much rather being out with Julie than anyone. Can't go all the time as (Teacher) has marking etc as a usual.

My better half quite likes camping, but hasn't been since our little one was born 10 months ago.

My Partner Tracey likes camping as much as I do,she also likes eating what I catch-shoot.She doesn't like going on bad angles or water crossings or going up steep tracks but you can't have everything. Pat

My sweety honey loves outback travel and if we were unencumbered we'd be there NOW.
She planned for us to attend a LROCT trip this Sunday but I'm working...
As soon as I have the LSE fitted up with the 300Tdi she'll be back out in the fray:twisted:
A bit of a hard ask to trash the Lexus on any tracks me thinks:eek:

Brinsleys spouse Shirley isn't immune to roughing it.
Hard to get her along cause she's a proffessional bike rider like full on.:o And you know how you have to train???
but; she has a good story on weight loss!!!

Cheers Brinsley:):)

Pat,

Mine gets out of the Rangie sometimes too, but thats mostly to remove the youngest daughter who is petrified of steep 'jump ups' and deep water:twisted:
On the catch/shoot scene,(Even though I don't shoot at present) mine is a serious contender for 'survival camp'. She'll eat anything feral, and that includes that greasy fishy smelling disgusting item known as a mutton bird.(Shearwater):spudnikhurler::spudnikhurler:

My Julie is usually up for most camps too.

My better half is a teacher and usually can't wait to go away for the weekend. In fact she is off next week to try out our new '08
Defender (without me due to work commitments) on the Nullarbor to go caving.

LOVEMYRANGIE
26th September 2008, 01:38 AM
Think Ms LOVEMYRANGIE likes it more than me sometimes!! We off for 4 days this long weekend. She went out and bought new camps beds, lamps, new icebox, cutlery, collapsable storage etc etc etc!!!
Lucky I got the S2A trailer finished in time!!

Mr's WayneP loves basic bush camping as much as I do, and comes on the occassional Hut maintenance trips with me. ( we're off this weekend actually )
Nowadays she's not so keen on the rough-and-tumble macho four wheel driving, but then again, neither am I. ;):). We must be getting old. The 4WDing is for us now only a means to an end ( i.e. that great camping spot ).

solmanic
26th September 2008, 07:46 AM
Mrs Solmanic likes camping more than me. I have a theory that if we go somewhere where someone else went to all the trouble and expense of building a B&B or lodge or luxury hotel or whatever nearby, then it would be insulting not to use it :p.

Redback
26th September 2008, 08:33 AM
My other half comes too, aka Kaos on the forum, as well as Miss Redback (daughter) on nearly every camping trip.

Annette enjoys camping and having roughed it a bit previously, she's lovin' the camper holidays now ... bit of luxo, all good.

Stevo

We're looking forward to taking Nick on his first camping trip.... soon.

XSiV
26th September 2008, 09:08 AM
My wife Dr XSiV loves camping and the 4WDing - the camping more-so since we upgraded to rooftop tent. My daughter Miss XSiV also loves camping and 4WDing in 'Daddy's Twuck' and she isn't even 2 yet. She also loves the rougher tracks but Dr XSiV sometimes underestimates the ability of 'Bender' and has a few palpatations but once she realises how easily we get through she usually wants to do it again.

We are planning to head off on the long weekend and possibly explore the area from Jenolan Caves to Wombeyan Caves. Location is yet to be decided.

cheers

Josh

26th September 2008, 09:31 AM
Yeah mine too, though we usually pick sites with at least a long drop... that is her basic requirement as a minimum. One day when we get a camper trailer then a porta poti is on the list so more bush camping is an option. Daughter loves it to (3 years old) and of course the boys do but thats a given isn't it??

That brings back memories JC. I haven't experienced the pleasure of the mutton bird since I left King Island - and the wife has never tried it.

Must make a point of it next time I visit my mum.

foz.in.oz
26th September 2008, 11:08 AM
Ms Foz likes to camp but hates to drive. All a bit arbitrary though as she works as a theatre nurse on a stupid rota so rarely do the weekends line up enough to enjoy weekends together anyway. Still this means I get to go where I want and do pretty much what I want. So its not all bad:D

Rugrat
26th September 2008, 12:37 PM
Mrs Rugrat likes to go camping also - funny I only get to go when she lends me her car :(
Oh well at least she lets me drive it sometimes.

LSBob
26th September 2008, 05:44 PM
SWMBO likes to go on the longer trips along with the teenager daughter but as she works on most weekends she cannot make it now.

Hymie
28th September 2008, 06:57 PM
Mrs Hymie just loves camping, and, after putting her through a 4WD course she has developed into a really confident off road driver as well.
I had taught her a fair bit, but coming from a different instructor made it mare relevant to her.
On our last Kimberley trip the amount of blokes who commented on her ability at the wheel was music to my ears.
Now I've got the go ahead to get a 130 and kit it out for some more extended trips:D:D:D:D:D

Mrs Haggisbasher likes camping but hasn't been since kids have arrived. Mind you took our middle out 6 months ago and she loved it...and now her little sis is walking might have to drag her too....

Will be cramped in our 2 man tent with me, 9 year old boy, 3 yr old and 18 month old girls.

"Steeeevvveeee.... do you have any room in yer tent for some of the kids?!!!!" will be the catch cry now.

Shonky
30th September 2008, 11:41 AM
Future Mrs ( ;) ) Shonky has only ever been camping on school trips, which are invariably to boring places and by virtue are trashed from having large school groups go through them.

I haven't been able to prise her out there yet but I will one day. :)

She is firmly in the No toilet - no camping brigade, and is bordering on the no lights, no TV, no showers, no solid structure, no comfy bed = no camping brigade. :(

I am working on her though. I made her a "toilet" out of a pickle barrel and an old stainless steel toilet seat, but she wasn't sold on that idea either... :p

Col.Coleman
30th September 2008, 11:58 AM
Hello CarolYne,

What are we frikin invisible or something?

Better include Wifey and the Princess in that list.

We camp everywhere. Hike, 4wd, boat, just not any stinkin caravan sites, or power. That ain't camping.

The ho har's
30th September 2008, 11:59 AM
That's cool with me.....the more women that hate camping, the more places I can go and will be less likely to meet anyone eh? :p

The less facilities, the better IMHO :p

Sad thing is for you....most of that can easily be achieved out bush :D

Sleepy
1st October 2008, 12:05 AM
Mrs Sleepy is a bit of a softy. I haven't had to make her a pickle-barrel toilet but she'll come along .....under sufferance!

Her idea of camping is setting up on a river bank somewhere and staying put!:( It's all the packing up and unpacking that drives her crazy. I'm thinking the offroad camper may be the go.

Oh..... and she is shid scared of snakes - absolutey petrified:eek2: -doesn't make it easy!!!
