G'day all,
I just had a look at an SWB 2a with a toyota 2.7l diesel in it.
I'm after a shorty diesel but not sure about the tojo motor in it. It has the standard LR gearbox, diffs axles etc.
It has been registered with the toyota engine in it but is out of rego now.

Has anyone any experience with this engine in a series? Started on first turn and sounded healthy. There seemed to be a lot of space in the engine bay!

Did this conversion require front crossmember modification such as in Holden conversions?

I'm not real crash hot on the idea of a transplant, much preferring a 2.25 diesel but they aren't so common on Sydney's 2nd hand market. He is asking top dollar for it and has rejected plenty of lower offers so don't think there'll be much bargaining.

This bloke also has a series 3 hardtop thats been holdenised and rear diff locked as well as a fire engine Landy he was going to convert to a weed sprayer, which I didn't get to see.

Thanks for any advice,
Mark
PS anyone got a reasonable nick diesel 88 either 2a or 3 for sale nearish Sydney please let me know!

Is the 2.7 an import or Out of a hiace etc. There will be a number on block to ID what engine it is.
Depends what you are going to use it for. The Toymota engines have a reputation for being long lasting.
The 3.4ltr 13B (BJ40) are the pick of older Toymota 4 cyl diesels.
