Fixed that damn leak at last

Just a heads up, i finally stopped the leak in my 110.
It was the rubber/foam seal between bottom of window and rest of the defender. the rain was being forced thru the seal as it is porous?/ pawarse.
So i just run a small bead of black silicone along it- then sprayed metho on it and ran my finger along to force the silicone into the seal.
The metho stops the silicone from sticking to the paintwork while cleaning up edges.

havnt got a camera this weekend- but it looks no different to before it was done except the black foam seal is now a bit shinier (the seal above the hinges) i just rubbed black silicone into it so it is no longer porous.

I had the same problem, & the same cure.:thumbsup:

I took the trim off & did mine from the inside though, so I didn't have to worry about being too neat.:p



Just re-read your post, mine was between the rear side window & the tub.

Thats another good way.
I was thinking also rub petroleum jelly or grease into it and just redo it once a year like waterproofing canvas. I may be just a humble landrover owner and not a LR engineer but to me it is better to make a seal waterproof-hey i could be wrong!
