I had a 97 v8 disco and it cost $4100 then you get the rebate back of $2000 but you have to fork out the total sum first, mine was dual fuel gas under the car where the main tank was and a 35lt petrol tank went in the right hand rear quater panel. the system a had was Impco this is the best system.:D hope this helps

Where do you live?

Here in sa, i had mine done for $2150 using a tested tripple tank in back, new computer and a 6 months old gas thingy under the hood.
Works brilliantly and cost me $150 after the rebate.
Go for it.

For sure, shop around.
I suggest tanks in back on floor, keep fuel tank for touring range.

Try for some 2nd hand stuff as the money you spend you will never get back if you ever sell it.

I had my tired old manual 3.5lt 89 Rangie (travelled 320K) converted in January with an Impco system, bottle in the back (65 usable lt). I went from roughly 60lt of unleaded p/week to 65 lt of gas p/week. I haven't worked it out exactly but up until last week* I was spending $38.00 p/week as opposed to whatever that 60lt of petrol was costing me last year! I know it's not a Disco but I couldn't see a Rangie conversion being much different price wise. The conversion cost me $960.00 after the rebate. I figure I was saving 50 odd bucks per week!:D I was quoted around $4000 to do the conversion with the gas underneath. If I had to do it again I would gladly spend the money putting the bottles underneath. Having said that, I had the bottle mounted on the right side and really didn't lose that much space. I don't know if that's possible with a Disco though.

* Last week I bought a automatic '94 Rangie (EAS intact so far) with 225k on the clock, all the bells and whistles and gas underneath. So far it looks like the gas consumption is about the same (if not being flogged). I just worked out the mileage for the '89 and I was getting approximately 14-15 per 100km. This would have been scary if I was using petrol but at 60c p/litre, I was laughing (ha ha ha, I said). If the 3.9 gets near that I'll be happy as and possibly even guffawing!

In conclusion to this rambling little reply, if you're planning on keeping the car for the next two years+ do the under car conversion. You will be more than happy with the extra cash in your pocket each week. If you're in the northern suburbs of Melbourne talk to Hooper automotive in Greensborough. I am more than happy with their work.

I just wish I could get figures like that. My V8 110 on gas gets around 22-25 per 100 km.:( And I have to pay 80 cpl for lpg also:mad:
