as I'm a disco man, was just wondering if you guys think this truck is good value (just playing with the idea of a new purchase ) ;)

It's an early TD5, so check if the TD5 issues have been resolved (plastic dowel in head and loctite missing come to mind, but I don't have a TD5 so can't comment beyond what I've read here.
There's not much fruit on it, just a standard bar and standard wheels. The problem with Defenders is you can't just buy & forget, there'lll always be something more to add on (winch bar, lights, cargo barrier, long range tank, compressor, winch, water tanks, suspension lift, polyairs, ........).
The price seems okay for a yard, but a private sale may yield a later model, or a vehicle with a lot more fruit on it. I do like the colour though.
It's a Defender, so it's going to be an improvement on the Disco whichever way you look at it.;)

With the way 4x4 prices are lately that seems a way to high.:o
I,m sure some one here will know the current prices for that mod.

the ad looks good (but that's what ads are supposed to do tho'):)
the car looks good (they want to sell it);)
I hope those with td5s respond - is your disco a td5?
2nd hand deefers seem to be at least double the price of equivalent age/condition/model discos
it seems a long distance away (what cost going & getting it?)
definitely have a trusted independent inspection
I've got both a def equivalent (87 county actually) and a 300tdi disco and enjoy them equally, drive whichever takes my mood on the day:)

Be aware that that one won't have TC which is a shame as it is a great aid to their off road abilities.
Has it lived in dog years (It looks a bit rough). If so it might be pricey. I am a bit out of touch on the prices though...

..........what value for money at the mo .....
well that's the key isn't it?
deefer prices are high ( though not in the redbooks etc),
and "the marketplace" is what governs it;)
that is - if buyer resitance rules, then the market declines - I think most car yards have heaps of $s to move down if they really need a sale
I imagine this seller got it for a lot less looking at the body dings
makes 2nd hand discos look really cheap for what you get
deefers definitely do not have the creature comfort levels of discos, everything from soundproofing to seating comfort is substantially less in a deefer (but obviously that doesn't worry us owners;))
also be aware that if you change from petrol to diesel in LR you will have to make adjustments.... :)

at 19k it is cheap so i would expect it will have issues of some sort all be it that they be minor..
the going market prices for deefers in good condition is somewhat higher than that as a general rule.
