Is it a decent 4WD drive track or could I make it in a VC Coomodore.

No I wouldn't take the commodore however you can easily drive in a freelander or any soft roader....however in saying that....maybe not after rain;) We were there a few weeks back...no low range involved...I don't recall puting centre diff in either

Hi Javaman, I was doing a recce a year or so ago and as I was going down the track, a load of kids in an old BMW were coming up the hill.

You would have no trouble driving an ordinary car over the track in dry weather but if it rains, don’t try doing the track in anything less than an AWD or 4x4.

It’s a good interesting drive, day or night.

Keep your eye out for a few side tracks that are strictly 4x4 and you can have some fun on them if that’s what you are looking for.

We just did it today :) Scallops was telling us he did it in a Mazda 626 a while ago and I recon as long as it wasn't raining you'd be fine. It'd be fun though

Cheers,

I forgot about Scallop's imaginary defender ( his Mazda 626 was used as his new Defender had not arrived ) on our AULRO social trip and like any good Land Rover, his mazda went home with a number of vehicle parts in the boot. :D

Over the years I’ve taken a Toyota 2WD Hilux ute and an old Ford station wagon over the track but over the last couple of years, they have put a very large number of drainage ditches across the road.

These ditch wouldn’t stop the use of a normal road height car but it does make for some slow going in a number of places.

Thanks to all.

I tend to judge a track by what we used to use a VC commodore for, VW Beetle - or in fact, a 626 Mazda!

Looks like I'll be waiting for a rainy day!
