i need to know of a oil for this engine as in what is good. also how much it takes i think about 6 ltrs tho i am not sure due to not having a diesel book.

Oil capacity is 6l, same as the petrol, plus 0.85l for the filter plus 0.85l for the aircleaner.

Recommended oil in the original manual is 20w for temperatures above -10, but I doubt any of the types recommended would be available today. Any diesel engine oil of the correct viscosity will work, as specifications are a lot more severe today than was required in 1957 when the engine was introduced, but I would be inclined to go up in viscosity to handle Australian temperatures better. While the better diesel oils will not hurt, they will provide little if any advantage as far as I can see.

i have tons of Delo 400 caltex oil here tho i wasn't quite sure about how it would go. i was unsure about air cleaner oil.

Should go perfectly well
"Delo 400 LE SAE 15W-40 is the latest generation API CJ-4 engine oil specifically formulated for new low emission engines, particularly those of North American origin fitted with diesel particulate filters. It is also suitable for earlier generation engines and is fully compatible with previous API Oil Service Categories."

However, there is no advantage in this over much cheaper oils, and the lower viscosity is likely to result in low oil pressure when idling hot, although this is not likely to be harmful.

Air cleaner oil is the same as the engine, but is not critical.

Yup! Caltex Delo 400 would be the go, we used to run it in the school buses for years, a mix of Bedford 330's & 400's with a couple of 6-354 Perkins as well as in the farm tractors, mainly Fergies, and never had any problems,we found that Delo didn't have as much viscosity drop when hot in the older type motors as some of the other brands, in fact there was one engine that when hot would only read 5 psi, changed it onto Delo, and hot idle was 15psi, the only thing changed was the oil brand, also used Wynns Diesel Conditioner in the distilate tanks to control the diesel bugs, if it has the short fat oil filter then the cartridge is Ryco - R2069P (same as Petrol engine) from most spares mobs, Repco spring to mind, any 20w-40w engine oil will do OK for the Air cleaner.

i got filters the other day. i was thinking of a conditionor for it. I drop water out and have ran water again to clear the crap out tho when i rebuild the car i will clean rad out of crap. have got Cummins coolant in there atm. it shouldn't hurt it. thankz
